Washington – ‘The Audacity Of Taupe’: Obama Suit Creates Sartorial Stir

    20

U.S. President Barack Obama departs the White House Press Briefing Room after addressing reporters in Washington, August 28, 2014. REUTERS/Larry Downing Washington – The subjects were serious enough at President Barack Obama’s impromptu press conference Thursday, but many viewers and the collective press corps seized on something more immediately visible: his tan suit.

The president’s decision to address the media in a breezy, light-colored summer suit swiftly took center stage for many even as he addressed Russian responsibility for rebel actions in Ukraine and ongoing US air strikes against Islamists in Iraq.

“Yes we tan!” became the mocking rally cry on social media as Obama gave a statement and then took questions from what some have deemed a horrified press corps.

Back in 2012 Obama told Vanity Fair that “I wear only gray or blue suits.” By breaking that promise Thursday — even with what many acknowledge was a sharp-looking, seasonal get-up — Obama inadvertently gave birth to #suitgate.

And the snark from America’s aspiring fashion critics exploded on Twitter.

“I’m sorry but you can’t declare war in a suit like that,” guffawed Wall Street Journal reporter @damianpaletta.

“The Audacity of Taupe,” tweeted Jared Keller, a programming director at startup MicNews.

    Other comments were similarly charitable.

“I hope they have a suitable strategy to keep isis at beige, i mean what?” tweeted Washington Post blogger Alexandra Petri (@petridishes).

Not everyone was amused. Someone immediately started the parody handle @Obamasuit, but Twitter has already suspended the account.

What’s so funny. When you have junk for a smile and junk for a courtesy, who cares what you decorate your limited experience with in life? This president is yesterday’s caretaker of the lost hope of the audacity of disorientation. A bland future with a very recidivist hope. Never Again.

big deal, his choice of clothing can’t be worse than his decision making (or lack there of).

The truth is that he dresses much better than his wife and children (they look like low class children of (I better not write the word starting with wh and ending in e OR I might find myself banned from yeshiva)).

Herein lies the real media and public’s problem. There is so much to talk about, promoting an invasion of the U.S., ignoring the Constitution, Bengazi, the economy, the health care fiasco and race hustling, being just a small part of it. Yet all these morons can focus on is his suit.

Go ask the average citizen anything to do with history, economics, civics, etc. and they’ll look at you like your from Mars. Ask about a movie star or rapper and they will know. Ignorance is one of the most important aspects in the destruction of a democracy. Society is unraveling. Jews better wake up and smell the rancid roses before it’s too late. History always repeats itself, especially when you don’t learn from it.
