Daniel Boyarin of the University of California at Berkeley says the tablet, which some experts suspect was discovered near the Dead Sea in Jordan, will likely shock most Christians who read its revelations regarding a messiah figure akin to Jesus Christ, The New York Times reported Sunday.
"Some Christians will find it shocking -- a challenge to the uniqueness of their theology -- while others will be comforted by the idea of it being a traditional part of Judaism," the professor of Talmudic culture said.
Among the revelations on the 3-foot-tall tablet, is a prediction that a messiah will rise from the dead three days after dying.
The Times said some scholars have dated the tablet decades before Jesus was born, meaning the artifact could indicate the messiah was part of a long-standing Jewish tradition.
The stone tablet was found a decade ago at an unspecified location and only came to light after an Israeli scholar published a paper on it last year, the newspaper said

The Xians hate the idea that yidden believed in moshiach before they did. That's why they refused to allow outsiders to work on the Dead Sea scrolls (until forced to do so), b/c they proved exactly that. Of course, the secular Israeli Govt went along with it, b/c they didn't want to believe that moshiach was part of yahadus, either.

The tablet if proven authentic, is no big deal. The prophets themselves spoke that the Messiah would suffer for the sins of the people and rise again. Read Isaiah 53. It's all about the Messiah. Also Zechariah 12:10. David spoke of the Messiah in Psalm 16:10.- " thou will not suffer thine "Holy One" to see corruption. In other words, Messiah would not "decompose", but rise again.

The Dead Sea Scrolls were found before there was an Israeli Government and were not under Israeli control. I don't see how you can blaim them.
The three day business sounds Xtian.

Even if the tablet is perfectly authentic, all it proves is that there was a sect that had beliefs similar to latter day xtians. The majority of Jews at that time did not necessarily believe in a moshiach being killed and rising again. That belief is strictly xtian in nature.

Says the gemara, in refrence to tales about idols in far away places that do this (eat, walk, talk etc) or grant petitioners that - "mitivan shel krovim ata lamed tivan shel rechokin - ksehm sh'ain mamish b'zeh, kach ain mamish b'zeh!"
Meaning: Just as you know about the far fetched stories you hear concerning idols nearby you, that they are consistantly proven and shown to be false, so too should you know regarding the "miraculous" stories you hear about idols in far away places (ie you cant verify the stories) that they are JUST AS FALSE!!!!

The Christian Religion took most Pesukim (verses) in TaNaCH, especially from Yeshayah Hanavi (Isaiah) to be in sync. (not your typical Milchig or Fleishig kitchen sink) with their religion and leader! According to the Gemara (in Mscht. Sanhedrin...) There were Two individuals by that name (approx. 150 Yrs. apart). The "Essenes"/ Issiym of the "Dead-Sea" Scrolls, were one of many [sects] with a Messianic agenda! They lived an ascetic life, of which The Chachamim Perushim/Pharisees" were not in happy!

Where did you think Christian mythology came from? Their messiah belief is a mix of several heretics that lived centuries earlier. The myths became distorted- and you have billions of people believing there was actually such a person.
