NPR.org (http://n.pr/XiqqzH) reports that while Pitigliano’s Jewish history dates back to the 16th century when Jewish travelers first established roots, years of persecution and anti-Semitic rule—most notably Italy’s WWII Fascist regime—has left all but a handful of Jews remaining.

But that hasn’t stopped Jews and non-Jews from around the world from coming to Little Jerusalem for a variety of different reasons.

Some, like Edda Servi Machlin, author of “Classic Cuisine of the Italian Jews,” have come to view the town’s restored ritual bath, slaughterhouse and bakery, which served as the Jewish community’s communal oven during the week leading up to Passover.

Machlin says the village’s Jewish families would gather “a few at a time” to use the oven to make their own matzot, a “spectacle” she said that always drew crowds of amazed Christian children.

Other visitors, such as Poughkeepsie, NY’s Judith Elkin, say they have come “fill in the gaps” in family Jewish heritage handed down from previous generations.

“I feel attached,” said Elkin. “How did they keep going here?”

Here’s an interesting fact; if you’re a European Country, then unless you’re Scotland and Albania, then you have a history of jew hatred.

Sorry Europe too late tough luck!

You slaughtered 6 million Jews and
replaced them with 20 million Muslims.
In Auschwitz Europe burned a culture, thought, creativity, talent. Europe destroyed the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and wonderful people who changed the world.

The contribution of this people is felt in all areas of life: science,
art, international trade, and above all, as the conscience of the world.
These are the people they burned.

And under the pretence of tolerance, and because they wanted to prove to
themselves that they were cured of the disease of racism, they opened their gates to 20 million Muslims, who brought them stupidity and ignorance, religious extremism and lack of tolerance, crime and poverty, due to an unwillingness to work and support their families with pride.

They have blown up Europes trains and turned their beautiful Spanish cities into the third world, drowning in filth and crime.

Shut up in the apartments they receive free from the government, they plan the murder and destruction of their naive hosts.

And thus, in Europe’s misery, they have exchanged culture for fanatical hatred, creative skill for destructive skill, intelligence for backwardness and superstition.

Europe has exchanged the pursuit of peace of the Jews of Europe and their
talent for a better future for their children, their determined clinging to
life because life is holy, for those who pursue death, for people consumed
by the desire for death for themselves and others, for our children and
    theirs.

    What a terrible mistake!

    “Europe’s oldest running Jewish presence”
Is the author serious? Jews have been living in Rome for over 2000 years, and in Germany for at least 1500.

THE AUTHOR DOESNT KNOW JEWISH HISTORY.
Did Italy TAKE DOWN the arch of titus celebrating the roman victory of death and destruction to our HOLY TEMPLE and shackling enslaving JEWS selling them off as slaves to europe? That was one of the cruelest times in history to ISRAEL.
That was the time when the romans RENAMED the area of ISRAEL AND JUDEA AND ISRAELITE TO ‘PALISTINE’.
    we jews are the palsitinians.
The roman census of JEWS at the time was 3 and half million.
