The Massachusetts State Automobile Dealers Association had sought to prevent the direct sales, citing a state law designed to block car dealers from abuses by car manufacturers.

The Supreme Judicial Court unanimously ruled Monday that the association and two dealers — Herb Connolly Chevrolet and Fisker Norwood — didn’t have legal standing to bring the case.

The court said Natick has since given Tesla a license to operate a sales office at the Natick Mall.

Why not every car company? Who needs dealerships?
    Cost 20% of the vehicle.

I agree with #1 . I never go to dealers because for the most part, they consist of high pressure sales people, and con artists, who rip the consumer off, every day of the week. I never take my car for repairs to a dealer, either. They are trained to keep the pressure up on a consumer, and browbeat them into buying options and extra insurance, which has dubious value. Stay away from dealers, if at all possible! Consumers should be given the option of buying their motor vehicles directly from all of the auto manufacturers. The reason that the federal government never passed legislation allowing the latter proposal, is because the automobile dealers association have very powerful lobbyists in D.C., who protect their turf.
