Ronald S. Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) led the delegation. He said the WJC and the pope are “in absolute agreement” in criticizing militant attacks on Christians in the Middle East, reports Religion News (http://bit.ly/1miMdTl).

“Francis told us privately that he believes we are in World War III, but unlike the first two world wars, instead of happening all at once, this war is coming in stages,” said Lauder.

Lauder said he first met Pope Francis when he was living and working in Buenos Aires. He says he had done a “fantastic job” bringing Jews and Christians together.

Other Jewish leaders present at the meeting were Jack Terpins, president of the Latin American Jewish Congress; Chella Safra, treasurer of the WJC; and a number of Jewish community leaders and senior WJC officials.

“There is one country in the Middle East where Christians are safe, and that country is Israel. There is only one country in the Middle East where the Christian population is growing, and that country is Israel. Today the world does not have the luxury of remaining silent,” Lauder continued.

Lauder was elected president of the WJC in 2007. He is the son of cosmetics giant Estee Lauder, and is a businessman, art collector and philanthropist.

I think the Pope assessed the situation very well. This is like WW3. Now that the world is a smaller place, terror can make its way around the globe. And, of course, that happens in stages.

In 1948 cardinal segura of spain called for new crusade to safeguard the Christian places in Israel. The Vatican nixed it. It is a shame because these news crusaders would have received a bloody nose and lucky for Christians that Israel is strong and can defend the “Christian” places against Isis

” Pope Francis told 40 Jewish leaders that Christians are suffering the same “savage attacks” once suffered by Jews.”

He forgot to say at the end two important words “from Christians”.

    OH yeah sure!

By us it was the Christians that attacked us with out mercy, it was the Christians who raped, tortured and stole our belongings, and all of this was upon instructions from the poopes who gave the OK to the lower level cardinals and bishops to spread poison against the Jews.

By was of contrast, the Jews in Arab lands lived a better life in terms of pogroms. True the Arabs occasionally had pogroms, but not at all on the level of frequency or intensity as those in the Christian lands.

Perhaps the Poop should read some history of the Jews in the Christian lands and read the differences of the Jews in the Arab lands.(True today the Arabs are our enemies, but for two thousand years, the Christians were most despicable.)

    Lest we forget!

this pope today can not be blamed for the past treatment of Jews by the entire world ,and the vatican in particular.

he is more considerate to the Jewish plight than those who held his position before him,and is at least openly trying to get along with Jews and the Jewish nation, which is a huge “leap-of-faith” for a pope

the jury is still “out'” but so far so good
