Lt. Col. George Bivens said Wednesday afternoon that officers saw a man they believe to be Eric Frein as recently as Tuesday. It’s the first time authorities have reported possibly laying eyes on the 31-year-old suspect.

Frein is wanted in the Sept. 12 ambush in Blooming Grove. Cpl. Bryon Dickson was killed and a second trooper was seriously wounded.

Police are hunting for him in the northeastern Pennsylvania woods where he grew up and his parents still live.

Bivens says police have also found empty packs of Serbian-branded cigarettes and soiled diapers they believe to have been left by Frein.
