The man was caught carrying a knife by the security officer of a community in the Sdot Negev Regional Council.
A security alert had been issued prior to the incident after signs of an infiltration from Gaza into southern Israel were recognized at the border fence.
Authorities were checking if the suspect infiltrated from Gaza into Israel.
The suspect was transferred to security forces for interrogation.
