NYPOST.com (http://bit.ly/1sGy3hS) reports that the numbers produced by the camera on Monday July 7, which is located at the end of a 400-foot exit ramp near Ocean Parkway, have drawn mixed reviews.

City Councilman Chaim Deutsch said anyone speeding “deserves a ticket,” while fellow Councilman Mark Treyger said the positioning of the camera amounts to nothing more than a “speed trap.”

A DOT spokesman said the positioning of the camera provides a “good amount” of distance for speed reduction by drivers entering the marked 30-mph speed limit area.

And that’s exactly why it’s there to generate money nothing to do with safety

Do not pay any fines from these cameras.
In Texas we had these cameras, the people fought it in court and the courts found them to be ILLEGAL.
After a year all cameras were turned off.

Any one wanting information about this should check out Texas.

Do you get ticketed for merely going 31mph or is there some wiggle space?

To #9 - I agree 100% with you. #2 (The Texas Jew) has an arrogant, pompous attitude; he seems to feel that what is good for Texas, is good for NYC, and the rest of the USA. It doesn’t work that way. He would have everyone believe that every red light camera is the USA is a scam, and nobody has every been convicted for speeding, by their use. It just so happens that in my home state, red light cameras are perfectly legal. Where traffic laws (especially speeding laws) are enforced, deaths and serious injuries from speeding go down. If motorists insist upon speeding on Ocean Parkway, then perhaps they should drive on a race track. In summary, I have ZERO sympathy for speeding motorists, who whine about their speeding ticket, but won’t change their proclivity to violate traffic laws, vis-à-vis the legal speed limit.

If there are speed limit signs on that road, the speeders deserve tickets.

Here is how New York’ers can fight back:

    1) Several Good Samaritans should pool funds together as a kind of a joint effort to shame our Mayer in revenge, and have the mayor’s vehicle followed with cameras to show that perhaps the mayor himself and his staff violate the law 1,000 times per day and get away with it shamelessly and illegally. Make a Youtube video, have it go Viral and the mayor and his cameras will be toast.

    2) When going to court you have a right to demand documentary proof that the particular camera (in question) has been recently calibrated by a certified lab and it’s report. Failure to be able to provide that gives you a right to have it dismissed.

    3) According to NYC law, the cameras may only operate when that particular school is open. Chances are that most tickets are issued at other times and if you bring proof of the law, you win.

“The cameras are authorized to be in operation only on school days 1/2 hour before, and 1 hour after school activities at the location”.

Google the last sentence and you will see for yourself!

Looks like city council members get reimbursed for the speeding ticket. Chaim Deutch is for it. Or he knows the company and lobby for it.

there was something on tv two weeks ago about drivers being wrongly ticketed for cell phone use while driving. it comes down to your word againts the officer giving you there ticket. they showed a man who has a camera in his vehicle that proved he was not on the phone while the officer said he was not.
if its not too expensive it may pay for us to put in such devices in order to ”protect” ourselves from this kind of situation

Someday, the police will ask “Why don’t you like us?” It is stuff like this that puts the public off the police.

What I do think people should get tickets for is speaking on the phone while driving. I can’t begin to count the number of FRUM people openly holding phones in their hands while flying on Ocean parkway! Once particular Yeshivish looking young man nearly caused a major accident while turning onto Ocean Pkwy from the service road, obviously totally distracted by his phone conversation to notice the car he almost hit! When he heard the honking, alerting him to his near accident, the first thing he did was throw down his phone! Rabbosai, you all may think that YOU are different from everyone else and can remain focused on the road while holding a phone in your hands, but trust me, you obviously can not! And think about the awful Chillul Hashem you’re making! I can’t even count the number of Frum Jews I saw on ocean Pkwy alone with phones in hand! This is dangerous! You have no right to put everyone else in danger! You are also breaking the law! Go buy a Bluetooth! It’s the. Yomim Noraim time, and Aseres Yemei Teshuva. How about starting the year off right by making right your terrible Aveira?
