Jerusalem – Two rabbis were sentenced to prison by the Jerusalem District Court on Monday for providing false rabbinical degrees to soldiers, police officers and intelligence officials.

Walla! News (http://bit.ly/1pCRCQo) reports Rabbi Meir Rosenthal was sentenced to seven years in prison and 24 months of probation.
Rabbi Yitzhak Ochana, who served as director of certification exams, was sentenced to ten months in prison. Ochana was also forbidden to serve in public office and was given 12 months’ probation.
Aharon Gutsdiner and Meir Roimi were convicted with the rabbis of aggravated fraud earlier this year.

Love it how a guy named “Secular” posts in Hebrew. All the hardcore religious extremists on this board use deceptive, innocuous names.
This is only the tip of the iceberg. There are many American “Rabbonim” with phony smichas. Money can’t buy you love but it can sure buy you a smicha! (Also UK, Canada, and other countries but fewer numbers)
When someone tells you that they got their smicha in Eretz Yisroel ask him “So how much did it cost you?”
