The Tehilim Asifa which takes place at the Bobover synagogue in Borough Park section of Brooklyn, NY, is an event that unifies many Borough Park yeshiva students from disparate backgrounds to pray for the many sick who need a ‘Refuah Sheleimoh’.
The children will say ‘tehilim’ as the names of the sick are scrolled on an adjacent wall and broadcast to all of the satellite locations.
Six chapters of ‘tehilim’ will be recited on behalf of the sick (13, 20, 79, 121, 130, 142) followed by Mincha , other prayers will be lead by local rabbis of Brooklyn.
In addition to the thousands of children from over 30 yeshivas who will participate in the prayer event at the Shul, thousands of other children will be part of the event through live audio hook-ups in many parts of the US and throughout the world according to organizers.
The Tehilim Asifa has been taking place every year since 1993 and has been coordinated since by the Misaskim organization.
Its a shame that such a geourgous event has to be hijacked by money. Those tehlim names on the wall are only if you pay for it. Yes the organization running it does very noble acts, I just don’t think its right to charge a fee for your name to be put on the wall. You can ask for a “suggested” donation but to charge money? What about the sick that can’t afford it?
