New York Daily News (http://nydn.us/1thWyMK) reports Kamins, 71, took a month off when the scandal first broke, and was demoted to serving as a Queens Civil Judge.

Kamins will resign on Dec. 1.

A report released three months ago showed that Kamins and Hynes emailed almost daily over Hynes’ failed reelection campaign, pending cases and a wrongful convictions controversy, among other topics.

The commission’s review began after the city’s Department of Investigation discovered misconduct throughout the emails.

Kamins became a judge in 2008 and was selected as administrative judge to Brooklyn’s Criminal Courts one year later.
