Jewish ultra-Orthodox family prepares their sukkah (hut) for the celebrations of Sukkot, the Feast of the Tabernacles, in the ultra-Orthodox neighbourhood of Meah Shearim, Jerusalem, Israel, 05 October 2014. EPAThe Hague, Netherlands – Despite warnings from Dutch police that the erection of a sukkah in the predominately Muslim neighborhood of Schilderswijk in the Hague could attract vandalism, city officials went ahead and gave the green-light on Friday to an application to erect one put forth by a member of the tiny ultra-Orthodox Jewish community located within the neighborhood.

JTA is reporting that the applicant, Fabrice Schomberg, was told by a city official on Tuesday that police were against the idea following a series of riots in and around the Jewish section of Schilderswijk over the summer, several of which included an appearance of the ISIS flag and shouts of “kill the Jews.”

Sources said Dutch police fear the sukkah would be considered a Jewish symbol, thus attracting more violence towards Jews in the area.

Schomberg, who has been a prominent voice within the Jewish community during the summer-long violence that has grown out of the Israel conflict in Gaza, has yet to say whether or not he intends to erect the sukkah.

When Islam sits, the floor shakes. No one has a side.

“warnings from Dutch police that the erection of a sukkah in the predominately Muslim neighborhood of Schilderswijk in the Hague could attract vandalism”
So what are you there for?
To fight religious freedom or support vandalism?
    So go get to work!
In USA we don’t tell our citizens : don’t go with your religious garments outside, don’t make any religious practices noticeable from outside!
If you never learnt what to do – come learn from US Police Force!
I am sure they will gladly teach you!!!

And this is a country that officially has international tribunal?
    Shame on you!
You can’t even take care of your own thugs, you will take care of an international crimes!?
First take care about your justice system, then fix others, whimps!

So the police just add additional patrols. That is what they are paid to do.

To #4 -PaulinSaudi-Would the religious police in your country allow Succahs, to be erected for the handful of Jewish businessmen, and diplomats who reside there? I seriously doubt it. During the First Gulf War, the Pentagon instructed Jewish American military troops, not to openly display symbols of of their Jewishness, so as to not openly “offend” their Saudi hosts!

Police should be there to protect the people that they may enjoy their peaceful religious customs; not to scare them from observing the customs.

SHAME on The Hague and on the Netherlands!
