NEWSWEEK.com (http://bit.ly/ZA6466) paints Bloomingburg as a community that has seemingly deemed itself unfixable, as parties on both sides of the issue have dug in their heels to the point where any form of compromise appears completely out of the question.
From trust issues that have continued to deteriorate since Chestnut Ridge was first proposed back in 2006, to the recent $25M civil rights lawsuit filed by Hasidics against Bloomingburg and Mamakating town officials, Newsweek ultimately asks the question as to whether what is taking place now in Bloomingburg is merely a “growth-slowing measure” by locals aimed at preserving the small size and sanctity of the rural community, or, is it an “anti-Hasidim ploy” aimed at restricting the growth of Bloomingburg’s Hasidic community?
