Cherkesky, 36, from Givatayim, is the fourth Israeli victim in one of Nepal’s worst mountain disasters which has claimed the lives of 40 people.

An intensive search by Nepali troops and government officials has rescued over 600 people from a route popular with foreign tourists that circles Annapurna, the world’s tenth-tallest peak.

A total of seven Israelis landed in Israel on Sunday to receive further medical treatment.

Lt. Tamar Ariel, 24, from Masuot Yitzhak, Agam Luria, 23, from Kibbutz Yifat, and Nadav Shoham, 30, from Hoshaya, died in the storm that erupted last Wednesday.

13 Israelis have been hospitalized in local hospitals in Nepal with minor injuries, such as frostbite. They are part of a group of 230 foreign survivors who have been rescued so far.

    40 people remain unaccounted for.

The dead include Canadian, Indian, Israeli, Japanese, Nepalese, Polish and Slovak trekkers. Survivors said many victims died trying to descend from the trail’s highest pass in freezing, whiteout conditions.
