LIVERPOOLECHO.co.uk (http://bit.ly/1nx5ktt) reports that Garron Helm sent a Tweet to MP Berger’s account on August 7 that featured her photo with a Star of David on her head and accompanying captions that read “Hitler was right” and “communist Jewess.”
In a search of Helm’s home, police subsequently found Nazi flags and other pro-Third-Reich-related paraphernalia, along with social media accounts full of pro-Nazi slogans and anti-Semitic hate speech.
In court, Helm’s defense attorney said his client was “deeply remorseful,” while describing him as a young man with a “troubled past” who fell in with the wrong people via the Internet.
Despite Helm’s guilty plea, District Judge Shaw called his actions “calculated” and “extremely abusive and upsetting.”
MP Berger said the incident left her “shocked,” but added that she hopes Helm’s sentence will send a clear “message” that acts like this will not be tolerated.
Let him move to the United States and he won’t have to worry about jail.
