Defence Minister Ehud Barak told the soldiers and civilians gathered at the graveside of Ehud Goldwasser, 31, that Israel was "heartbroken" and had "paid a heavy price" to bring home the bodies by freeing five guerrillas involved in deadly attacks.
News headlines reflected a bitterness over the contrast between Israel's mourning and the celebratory fireworks and ceremonies held in Lebanon to welcome the former prisoners and remains of 197 guerrillas Israel returned under the deal.
Hezbollah leader Sayed Hassan Nasrallah made a rare public appearance to welcome the prisoners on Wednesday and further celebrations were held on Thursday as the guerrillas' remains were taken by convoy from southern Lebanon to Beirut.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Wednesday singled out for criticism the honors in Beirut that went to Samir Qantar, reviled in Israel for a 1979 attack that killed four.
"Woe betide the people who celebrate the release of a beastly man who bludgeoned the skull of a 4-year-old toddler," Olmert said in a statement, referring to the girl Qantar killed with her father.
Israeli security officials also warned on Thursday that murderer Kantar, should now fear for his own life.
"Every terrorist who committed an act of terror against Israel, especially someone like Kantar, who killed a little child and two other people, is a target,"
"If there is a chance for Israel to close the file on Kantar, Israel won't hesitate," he added, speaking on condition of anonymity.

I am really sick over this! They kidnap 2 soldiars, murder them! Who knows how much torture they had to endure! And then they give them back for a murdering bastard!!!! Then he gets a hero's welcome with the whole town cheering!!! They should be ashamed! Wish Israel would go and blow up that whole Lebanon!! I am really sick!!!

Does Olmert think this will make him more popular. In this new kind of war which Israel is losing kidnapping has been elevated to the MOST effective way to crush Israel. I don't understand. Where is Jewish pride? Why didn't we all listen to Meyer Kahane? During his lifetime he was ostracized by the Jewish Community.What a terrible price to pay. Israel is in a self destruct mode at this time

the wife isnt an agunah
the parents can sit shivah
they can bury their child
we have there bodies back and they wont be desecrated like they did other jewish bodies
if it were your family gd forbid you would do anything to fight to get the body back
everyone here is willing to fight the government to stop an autopsy that will help find a killer because the torah forbids it what they did to these soldiers bodies while alive and dead is 100 times worse

Look at the contrast between the Jewish boys that came back in coffins and the child murderer that came back smiling, chubby and plump. He was obviously being well fed. Something is really wrong with that picture.
