Wednesday’s rally is the latest in the public outcry that has followed the attacks, which are extremely rare in Iran.

The attacks all had same pattern — an attacker on a motorbike throwing acid at women inside a passing car.

According to the semiofficial Fars news agency, police chief Gen. Ismaeil Ahmadi Moghaddam says eight cases of acid attacks have been reported in Isfahan over the past few months.

He says an ongoing police investigation suggests the attacker is a single individual. Police have already arrested four suspects in the case.

Local media have speculated that the attackers believed the targeted women weren’t dressing modestly enough.

    Disgusting.

To #1 - Yes, it is disgusting. However, is it any better in certain areas of Yerushalayim, where hoodlums attack women for the same reason, or because they refuse to move to the back of the bus?

You can get spray painted and assaulted by Jews in Yershalayim , too, if not dressed modestly enough.

The only way Iran will be overthrown is if women rise up and do it.

When Moshiach comes, whoever will be in charge can enforce whatever they want. Until then, women can dress any way they please without having to worry about the Tznius Police.

When you have a religious theocracy run by a small sect of mullahs that espouses views of hatred and sexism, you are going to get fanatics that feel empowered to commit atrocities like this. Couple that with a legal system embodied in religious law that doesn’t punish these offenses with more than slaps on the wrist then it’s no wonder a real war on women exists in Iran. It’s a shameful act and even more shameful that Iran’s mullahs are passive about halting it.
