Israel – Following the closure of the Temple Mount to Jews and Arabs in the wake of an assassination attempt of a right-wing activist in Jerusalem, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas likened the move to a declaration of war.

The PA chief pinned the blame for the “dangerous” escalation in violence on the Israeli government, saying the peak was this morning, when the Jerusalem leadership decided to close the holy site to all visitors.
This, he said, was a straight out “declaration of war,” not only on the Palestinian people and their sacred sites, but on the entire Arab and Islamic nation.
This step, Abbas said, according to his spokesman Nabil Abu Rudaineh, would spark further tensions in Jerusalem and alter the political climate in the city, which has seen intense friction in recent months.
The Palestinian leadership would make sure Israel was held accountable, Abbas vowed.
On Thursday, in response to intelligence assessments and heightened security concerns, Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich and Jerusalem Police Chief Moshe Edri ordered the closing of the Temple Mount until further notice.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has authorized beefed-up security in the capital after Rabbi Yehuda Glick was shot in front of the Menachem Begin Heritage Center on Wednesday night.

Whatever the arabs ….that is final !!!!
Did he say anything about the shooting and hes gonna hold isreal accountable for what for the assination attempt ? Hes one big mouth and idiot
Assassination attempts are also an act of war.
He doesn’t say anything regarding an innocent man who was shot all he wants is for the Arabs to keep up the violence at no cost no concenquence for their actions they could shoot a Jew and it’s business as usual and they know that the un has their back…
This has been brewing for months. I just returned from Jerusalem and you feel the tension in the streets. Barkat is a great mayor. The Israeli government needs to keep strong and weed out the terrorists. Not all arabs are terrorists, but we need to get the bad apples out from our midst.
Thank you Moshe Dyan for giving the keys to to temple mount to the Wakif when it was captured from the jordanians now it is a separate place not part of jerusalem.
Jews shouldn’t be going into the Har Habayis. They know this will cause angst with their neighbors.
Someone please help me understand… “the closing of the temple mount is a declaration of war”, on whom?
According to Netanyahu, he ordered it closed even to Jews, so did he declare war against Israel?
You know what, the PA just wanted to send a message you the Palestinians to continue violence, and that is a declaration of war!!!
In China there is a saying amongst the common folk as follows:
“Not all Muslims are terrorists, but ALL terrorists ARE Muslims!”
BRING THE ARABS ON!!
THEY ARE RIGHT-THIS IS WAR AND IT IS TIME TO FINISH IT
WHAT IS ISRAEL WAITING FOR?
WORLD OPINION? HA !
Good, lets have a war. They will lose, and they know it. Pure posturing – they’re getting the crying old women in the babushkas ready to deploy.
That being said, I will never understand the pressing need to go on to the Har Habayis for any reason. The Bais Hamikdosh is not there. There is no Kohen Gadol and no korbonos. They will not be there until Hashem decides the hour of the final geulah. All we are doing is stirring up trouble needlessly – we are in Golus and we cannot force Hashem’s hand. We have not learned the lesson from the aveira of the Miraglim – once Hashem decided not to allow the Jews to enter Eretz Canaan to conquer it, no military force was able to change that decision and the Jews were foolish to try. Let the Arabs have the Har Habayis – it will eventually return to us. There is no need to force the issue.
