Washington - McCain Made the Biggest Political Mistake of His Lifetime That Could Cost Him The Election

Washington - Mondale promised to raise taxes. Dukakis was in the tank. Kerry was for the war before he was against it. All mistakes, mistakes that should never have been made and errors that turn the course of an election. We hear about them all the time. But now, just as the memory of Bill Buckner’s error took a backseat for Red Sox fans when their team finally won the World Series, John McCain has made the biggest mistake in politics, an error of such magnitude that he has probably cost himself a shot at the White House.

Senator McCain, knowing that he held an edge on Barack Obama on the “Commander in Chief” question, badly overplayed his hand. He taunted Senator Obama on his lack of foreign policy experience and he challenged Obama to go to Iraq. He sneered at Obama for formulating an Iraq policy prior to traveling to the war zone. He even offered to go with him to Iraq, as if Obama needed his hand held by the man with military experience.

McCain wanted the public to believe that Obama was a novice, a whipper-snapper who would jeopardize our nation’s security.

Obama listened to McCain’s attempted bullying and said, “You know what? I’ll go to Iraq. And Afghanistan, Israel, Germany — I’ll make this a big foreign policy trip abroad. I’ll show the voters back home that the world still really does love the United States, they just don’t love President Bush or John McCain.”

And Obama went abroad, with the world’s press following him, clinging to his every word, oohing and aahing at his every jump shot, hoping to catch a glimpse of his every smile.

The trip: the biggest success of the campaign. The Commander in Chief question: negated. Heck of job, McCain.

In the meantime, with all of press following Senator Obama’s tour, John McCain has been getting almost no coverage at all. When he does get coverage, he’s zipping around in a golf cart with George Bush 41. Not exactly the message of change this nation longs for.

Really? I didn't know that getting people to ooh and aah was a presidential requirement. I didn't know that being a celebrity was how one demonstrates leadership.

I thought only vapid movie stars did that.

This guy must think we're really stupid.

comments - arrow There are too many fools around. Obama follows the direction of players who know campaigns like good brokers predict the stock market. He just tells people exactly what he believes they want to hear. Nothing he says remains as he said it – he keeps backtracking and changing his mind. And what he says has nothing to do with his actions, neither now nor later. He’s an opportunist who works on seizing moments to be liked by people. The trouble with most of us is that we are victims of the major media, and they are clearly involved in a strong effort to bend the election to Obama.

Obama told everyone in the Middle East what would get the most mileage in the press. His idea of placing an Iraq pullout is nothing short of gross irresponsibility. Any changes in America’s Iraq military program must be solely dictated by the facts on the ground. The very audacity of putting it on the calendar is a statement that he wants United States to “lose the war”. That is neither presidential, nor “commander in chief”, nor does it carry a trace of leadership quality. It is something else to direct the military brass to examine the situation with the eventual goal of pullout, but Obama’s ideas are suicidal. Fellow Americans: War is military, not political. Don’t mix them up!

So he made some friendly statements about Israel defending itself in the face of the constant barrage of rockets. Big deal. Next week, he’ll praise the Palestinians for putting up “resistance” to occupation, and he may even promise them more money. Obama is not worth a half second of trust. And if anyone thinks that McCain is not the better alternative, then do a write in vote for Mickey Mouse. Anything has got to be better that this inexperienced buffoon who knows nothing of foreign policy, has a track record of the worst votes in the history of the U.S. Senate, and can never make up his mind on anything. Stop believing the mainstream press.

comments - arrow The only reason Obama took this trip is because he knows that on the military and foreign affairs he has zero experience, and in public opinion McCain with his decorated military service to our country and foreign policy experience is way ahead of Obama, so he takes this trip in order to try and salvage his lowly image.

comments - arrow Obama spoke publicly and stated that his comments to Jewish groups about keeping Jerusalem undivided were "misunderstood." His clarification clearly shows he intends to work to give Jerusalem and the Holy Sites to the Arabs. That's not an innocent gaffe - that is evidence Obama is purposefully speaking flatteries to Jews for votes but has no intention of supporting Jews or Israel.

comments - arrow McCain didnt have to go to Iraq because he knows whats going on there. He's been saying it all along. He's BEEN there before and not while running for prez either.

The stuttering idiot, AKA Osama Obama, had to go because according to him and his lib people the surge didnt work so he had to see for himself. BTW, he changed his mind and said it worked.

The Huffington Post is so liberal its disgusting and I would put them past nothing to get Osama into office.

Can I vote for McCain? He does seem the lesser of the two evils. But, he is still a fairly weak candidate. I do think he would be better than Obama, but still pretty awful.

Honestly, in my opinion, Obama is a "NO WAY"
McCain is an "OY! Isn't there someone else?"

Bottom line, I will walk in to vote, and write in MICKEY MOUSE.

Compared to either one of them, I would rather see George W have another 4 years.

So, M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E ... you will have at least one vote.

Obama may have got the usual (lib) networks to follow him around, but he achieved nothing. He had nothing new to add. No new policy. No new takes on thew situation. suggestions that have been made ages ago...let's face it, he has nothing to offer, and the american public are starting to see it.

If you want to know the greatest threat to America today, it's not the muslim terrorist, it's Barak Hussein Obama. Watch while he pulls our troops out of the middle east, and all hell will break loose. think you know terrorism...wait! and this with the backdrop of increased taxes. think food, gas, medical bill, property tax, etc is high. Wait till the Obamanation begins!

And for all you folks out there who are on government programs and plan to vote for this guy because of the increased freebees you'll be getting, don't be so short sited. In the end you too will suffer. With Obama in power it will be the beginning of the end.

Lehavdil, would you appoint a yeshiva bochur as rosh yeshiva? no! he doesn't have the maturity. He doesn't have the experience. He doesn't have sufficient knowledge. Obama is the yeshiva bochur - 3 years in the senate, and nothing to offer. he is being pushed because he is liberal, black & will pander to anyone who'll get him the vote.

McCain said he would sacrifice the presidency for the war effort, and in turn for freedom. Obama will sacrifice the war, and in turn our freedom, peace and stability for his presidency, and in turn his pride, arrogance & self-aggrandizement.

America under Obama will be an Obamanation. Hashem Yerachem.

comments - arrow Within the past ten days, McCain referred to current events regarding Czechoslovakia, a country that no longer exists, and expressed concern over the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border, which also does not exist. Had Obama made such comments, everyone commenting here would be all over him. McCain has also in the past confused Sunnis and Shiites.

Republicans have no right to criticize Obama for inexperience given the George W. Bush had even less experience when he was elected. Yet it isn't even clear that McCain has the advantage over Obama in this area given his repeated misstatements.
