Jackson, WY - Chasidic Rabbi Establishes Jewish Center |
|
Rabbi Zalman and Raizy Mendelsohn recently moved to Jackson, to establish Chabad Lubavitch of Wyoming; a center for Jewish culture, living and learning. “It’s so nice to finally have a full time rabbi and rebbetzin living in Teton County” said Bret Borshell from the Grand Realty Group. “And they are so accepting and non-judgmental, even though I’m not as religious as they are”.
“Welcome to Wyoming! I saw your article in the paper and I look forward to meeting you and your family”, Senator Mike Enzi wrote the rabbi. “Diana joins in sending our greetings and best wishes to you”.
The new Jewish center offers a cornucopia of services including; Torah classes, Shabbat meals, prayer services with practical explanations, Kosher food and awareness, Hebrew reading and writing, Jewish Holiday workshops, crisis counseling and weekly homemade Challah deliveries.
“We will also be offering a monthly women’s group which will highlight the spirituality inherent in the feminine soul”, Raizy Mendelsohn Co-director of the Chabad Jewish Center, said. “We will gather every month for a lecture followed by a fun crafts project which will be donated to orphanages in Israel.” Chabad Lubavitch
With over 2800 centers worldwide, spanning 47 States, Chabad Lubavitch is inspired by the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe of blessed memory. “The Rebbe saw every Jew as a soul; not as separate groups of Orthodox, Conservative or Reform” explained Rabbi Zalman. “Labels are for shirts. At Cha-bad, the three categories of Jews are: a Jew, a Jew and another Jew. Every Jew in Wyoming is part of our family”!

very nice listing thanks it truly reminds of of why our neshomos came down to this world.
I just read a story in a chabad Web Site that Ron Blomberg the famous NY Yanky slugger was in new Hampshire this past week and a shliach asked him to put Teffilin on...
He remarked he would be happy to and said that after meeting hundreds of Rabbis over the years in NY and elsewhere it took him 65 years and a trip to new hampshire to put on Teffilin for the first time in his life!!!!!!!!!
A small story with alot of tochen remember before you bash chabad ( for there crazy yechi group ) remember the amazing work they do all the time all over the world

Chabad certainly has their niche in yiddishkeit with these small towns. I know of not a single person outside Chabad who would be willing to commit himself long term to a hick town. Only Chabad has that commitment to spend their entire lives devoted to a small hick town. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

Tachlis, because of people like you we are still in golus. Just because you are too lazy to do any "Tachlis" in this world by caring about another Jew, don't put down the good work of others.
By the way I am sure, whenever you are traveling you always look up Chabad, but when you are at home you always make snide remarks about Chabad.

Let's do to things: Give Chabad its due and remain honest. Yes, they do excellent work in far-flung places where no one else would go. Yes, they related beautifully with Reform and Conservative Jews and work to bring them closer to Torah and Hashem. Now lets be honest: their relationship with other Orthodox Jews is poor since (a) they go into established kehillas and try to change long-time established minhogim to their own (i.e. Vilna); (b) they spill bizyonos on a great Rosh Yeshiva zy"o who disagreed with them; (c) after making Yidden more frum they very often fail to carry on that education to making them beni Torah and (d) they have been overtaken by a style of Messianism which reminds one of S"Zvi. I stress that I am referring to Chabad as an organization - not the late Rebbe of Lubavitch.
Chabad does a lot of excellent work - but don't sprain your hands patting yourselves on the back!

Anonymous 3:25 You can find very reliable information on how Chabad in Vilna has run roughshod over the minhogim of hundreds of years established by the Gro and his talmidim. They do this on purpose as if to say "See - in the fortress of the misnogdim we're now the baale botim". They have torn apart the small remaining kehilla in Vilna with their behaviour.
I can definitely agree with your statement no. 3 that in Lubavitch today there is much less Torah than in the past. I am glad to you did not argue - and were modeh to (d) that the spirit of Shabtsai Tzvi reigns today in C. H. Again - I add my disclaimer that I do not discount the great work of Lubavitch in many areas, that there does exist in other kehilas (including my own) problems which much be faced, and that I am not referring in any manner to the late Rebbi of Lubavitch in this paragraph.

To all you fools claiming Cahbad is running roughshod in Vilna... Chabad was there for years before any misnagdim showed up! They were the ONLY frum Torah presence of any form for well over a decade. So of course they had the shul and the community--'cause there was no one else doing anything!
Then the misnagdim came and said, "Hey, what's Chabad doing here? This is Gra country!" and started making trouble.
Chabad didn't start the problems in Vilna.

These critics remind us why we fast twice in three weeks instead of dancing with Moshiach. AHAVAS CHINAM AND MOSHIACH NOW!

I spent shabbos in the skylake shull in miami.. I would like to know why it is ubavitchers that walk 30 minutes (45 when the bridge was down) to make a minyan for local yidden?
Why did the young israel of skylake go to a chabad rav to lead the shull? why have they hired a chabadnik for 10 years as chazan yomim noraim ? why did they come to me rosh hashana 8 years ago to lain?
Because no one wants to do it! Simple.. I love how everyone knocks chabadnikim that daven shacharis at 10am.. but you can find thousands that will get up at 8am to walk 30-45 min in BRUTAL summer heat to make a minyan.
I dont need to go on.. your welcome to visit shabbos in young israel of canarsie and see chabad bochurim that walk 30 minutes through the 'hood to make a minyan.
1:29pn oy nebach.. how sad.. my father is buki in shulachan aruch, rambam etc.. but just does not have the kop for gemara.. he has mekarevd thousands of jews to judaism, brought ke'h 10 holy jews into this world and you can farher my brother on 1,000 blat gemara rashi, tosfos etc.. any time.
Whats the great inyan of creating "bnei torah" Chabbad works to bring a jew closer to judaism on that person's level and personality.. Not everyone can or wants to learn a daf gemera.
Everything is "moshe m'sinai" it's a nebech that you consider toras hanistar not "moshe m'sinai"

To critics of Chabad:
You can say what you'd like. It's a Chabad world and it's just growing.
Chabad's ever growing presence and influence isn't just in the "hick towns", it's everywhere there are Jews.
As the saying goes, because the dog is barking at the moon is the moon not a moon? You can be part of the this movement of Ahavas Yisroel and Torah or you can bark all you'd like...
