A police official told the Jerusalem Post that the investigation is still ongoing and it hasn’t reached a final conclusion whether or not it was intentional, but it appears that signs are indicating it was an attack.

On the night of the incident senior army sources told the Post that the hit and run may have been an accident, while media reports elsewhere stated that the ruling had already been made that it was a traffic accident.

In the incident, a van driven by a Palestinian plowed into three IDF soldiers near al-Arub (south of Bethlehem), sending three soldiers to Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem. One soldier was seriously injured, while another was in moderate condition and a third lightly injured.

The next day the driver turned himself in to Israeli police and a second man was arrested by security forces. Both were from the Hebron area.

The video of the incident leaves no doubt as to the motive of the attack. Two weeks ago the politicians were still trying to play down the situation and decided to ignore it. After the massacre in Har Nof, they have to show that they are doing something, so they have given instruction to upgrade it to a terror attack.
