Brooklyn, NY – The annual gathering of Chabad-Lubavitch Emissaries in New York have brought together nearly 2,000 rabbis in what they call the world’s largest selfie.

Chabad.org (http://bit.ly/1rktFzs) reports that the shot, taken in front of the Kinus Hashluchim, was taken with the help of a few tech-savvy rabbis who used Twitter and WhatsApp to coordinate the shot, then got the help of local photographer Chaim Perl.
Two men held a several-foot-long stick to hold up the lens and click the shutter.
The photo is a far cry from the first group photo taken in 1983, when the gathering brought together 65 members.
“We are really one big family,” said Rabbi Levi Slonim of the Rohr Chabad Center for Jewish Student Life at Binghamton University.” “Who better to be with, for what might be a world-record-setting group selfie?”
DNA info says that , Guinness World Records hasn’t weighed in yet; but the book of records has categories for “Most Selfies Taken in One Hour” and “Largest Online Photo Album of Selfies,” but no category for the most people in a selfie at one time.
Last week, Microsoft claimed to have the selfie record with its photo of about 1,100 people in Bangladesh.
Do these rabbis even know what a “selfie” signifies in very many cases in the non-Jewish world? If they did, they probably would blush to use this term.

oh, anonymous, stop being such a party pooper! Smile a bit. These chabad rabbis are the best gift for the Jewish people. They’re true, fun and upbeat. They make people want to be better Jews. Do you have kids in college? I do.
Stop whining and start saying thank you.
Anon. Is that EVEN a question? Thank you for all they do for the Jewish people— all over the world! If you care about the Jewish people, that is, and not only your only insular community. I think these guys are great role models for the rest of the religious world in how to be tolerant yet stay true to their faith. Have you ever traveled? They are the nicest people.
My daughter is in college and I can never ever repay the rabbi and the rebitzin enough for what they have done to maintain a jewish connection to my daughter and to help her hang around Jews, keep shabbat and eat kosher. My daughter even met her boyfriend at the rabbi’s house! Thank God for those rabbis who encourage our kids to marry Jewish, celebrate Jewish holiday etc. It is a scary scene out there. I love these guys, they are always happy and make me proud of our people.
Thank you for the countless of Yidden that have access to a Mikveh, Minyan & Kosher food in nearly every corner of the world whenever they travel for business or vacation, and thank you for the countless lost souls that these Shluchim help to find their way back onto the Derech Hayoshar! Kol HaKovod!
