Obama made the comments Monday moments after official word of the grand jury’s decision.

The president said first and foremost the nation is built on the rule of law. He said despite anger and intense disagreement on either side, Americans need to accept the decision that the grand jury made.

The Justice Department is also conducting an investigation into possible civil rights violations that could result in federal charges.

This morning, former Mayor Rudolph Guiliani on CNN criticized Chris Cuomo’s Father (former Gov. Mario Cuomo of New York State) for failing to stop the riots in Crown Heights in 1991, and letting the rioters “vent” for 3 nights, in the hope that might “cool things off”. He made that statement, since the Missouri authorities seemed to have done the same thing in Ferguson, whereby looters plundered liquor stores and other businesses with impunity.
