(AFP Photo/Fabrice Coffrini)Geneva – U.S. authorities should review how race-related issues affect law enforcement and justice to tackle a “deep and festering” mistrust in some sectors of the population, U.N. human rights chief Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said in a statement on Tuesday.

Zeid said he could not comment on whether a grand jury’s acquittal of a white police officer in the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager conformed with international human rights law because he did not have all the details.

“Nevertheless, I am deeply concerned at the disproportionate number of young African Americans who die in encounters with police officers, as well as the disproportionate number of African Americans in U.S. prisons and the disproportionate number of African Americans on Death Row,” he said.

Where’s his statement regarding Chicago and the number of blacks killed by other blacks, this year alone, is over a thousand? Where’s his statement regarding Detroit where the unions bankrupted the city? Where’s his statement regarding Paris where Jews are regularly chased and beaten by thugs? Where’s his statement regarding Hamas and their willful destruction of Gaza?

One day after the USA gives Israel advice on how democratic it should be, the UN is doing the exact same to the USA.

It’s unfortunate that people out there do not understand nor bother to check the role that a grand jury plays: A grand jury does not decide if anyone is guilty or innocent — that is for the trial judge/jury. The role of a grand jury is simply(?) to determine if a crime has been committed. Again, there is no determination of guilt or innocence. There was no acquittal in Ferguson because there was no trial; the grand jury just determined that no crime had been committed and therefore, did not indict.
