Speaking on a number of topics including Shabbat, dietary laws and the connection with Judaism in diaspora at a Chief Rabbinate Council meeting on Monday in Jerusalem, Rabbi Lau said religious perspectives cannot be ignored in the election campaign, reports Israel National News (http://bit.ly/1wWgI6L).

The rabbi’s comments are directed toward debated legislature passed recently involving conversion laws, marriage laws, a law urging for one chief rabbi instead of two, a tax law giving a break to same-sex couples and same sex marriage laws, among others.

The rabbi said he hopes bills involving religious issues will first go to the Chief Rabbinate, “which is the official body in the country for these topics, and we hope the next government will cooperate for the good of the public.”

The rabbinate in the past would have worked with the government in crafting laws. Unfortunately, today, the Haredi world is so disconnected that it has virtually nothing in common with the average Israeli. If Torah is so far removed from people there is no interest in using that Torah to create laws and regulations.
It all goes back to Chava and crating non-existent Chumrahs.—you end up losing people–and for no good reason at all.

Same sex marriage laws? Why don’t we just rename the state from Israel to Sdom? At least the new name will accurately represent the mores of the people who live there.

If Rabbi Lau doesn’t like his present working conditions he is free to leave the post at anytime.

But wait – Then again, he might not be able to find other work.

The only reason that he holds his current position is because his father held it before him.

Bottom line – he is a fraud.
