That includes computers, cell phones, televisions, stereos and other devices that plug in or run on batteries.

On DEC’s electronics recycling web page, consumers will find the brand of equipment they wish to recycle, as well as a link to the manufacturer’s recycling program webpage and a toll-free number for information about recycling.

Electronic equipment manufacturers who sell in New York are required to accept for recycling or reuse their brand of equipment, as well as one piece of the same type of electronic waste of any manufacturer’s brand.

It would probably help with compliance were there scheduled curb-side pickup days, perhaps once every quarter.

Also, now that vacuum tube televisions and monitors are much rarer and the composition of disposable batteries is much more environmentally friendly, the danger to the sanitation crews from this sort of gear is much reduced.
