In the country’s first detailed public response to Obama’s historic announcement last week, President Raul Castro’s head of North American affairs tells The Associated Press that Cuba welcomes “the entire package” offered by Obama. That includes U.S. equipment to improve Cuba’s internet and potentially unlimited exports to Cuba’s new class of private business owners.
Josefina Vidal said Monday that President Raul Castro “has said we welcome President Obama’s decision to introduce the most significant changes in relations with Cuba in 54 years … That includes the entire package.”
Cuba has historically imposed heavy regulations on the internet and private business.
All the way back to when I was little, Cuba was being accused (mostly by dissidents, especially colored ones) of being very racist. Looks like the progress was made. Raul learned to include a token shwartze in the government pictures.
Also, they are way ahead of us. We only have one vice president, and many don’t think we even need the one that we have. But Cuba, admittedly much more important country than the US, has one first vice president and at least two stammer vice presidents, the major role of the latter ones seems to be to dress like zhlobs for public appearances.
Yes, Cuba is the place far away about which we know very little.
