Miamey – The Niger government says at least 45 churches have been set on fire in this predominantly Muslim West African nation in protests over French cartoons lampooning Islam’s prophet.

In a statement issued Monday, the government also declared three days of national mourning for the 10 people who died amid the violent protests that first began on Friday.
Authorities have said that the victims were inside churches and bars set ablaze by protesters angry about the portrayal of the Prophet Muhammad in the French news weekly Charlie Hebdo. The publication was the subject of a terror attack that left 12 dead earlier this month.
Niger’s government in the statement promised that those responsible for the arson and deaths will be sought and punished.
If I were Charlie Hebdo’s editor and I saw the carnage the publication was causing and the death of so many innocent people, I would just close it down. Is it worth publishing to cause these deaths? I remember when the Village Voice created an uproar when it first was published, but compared to this, it was nothing. Yes, I know, many of you will say that the paper gave in to the demands of these radicals and they would be the winners, but, tell me, how can they sleep at night?

They have to continue to desecrate mohamad and cause muslems to rebel, to then bring a major expulsion of muslims from western lands. Only then we will have peace. Look, muslems can desecrate churches and no one does anything??? Why Christians don’t retaliate against that? Because they are more “civilized”. And barbarian moslems don’t belong to “civilized” western world.
