New York – Mayor Bill de Blasio says New York City will review its storm procedures to see if anything can be done better the next time around.

De Blasio said Tuesday the decision to shut down the subway system was based on all the information that was available at the time.
He said erring on the side of caution to keep residents safe is “a no-brainer.”
De Blasio said if the storm had hit with the predicted intensity, it would have paralyzed some subway lines.
He noted that there’s no perfect way to predict the weather.
The not-so-great blizzard of 2015 did wallop the Northeast. Long Island and Massachusetts got hammered with more than two feet of snow, and it’s still falling.
But snowfall in the self-absorbed media capital of New York City, shut down in advance, stayed in the single digits. New Jersey and Philadelphia also were spared.
Meteorologists say the nor’easter stayed about 75 to 100 miles east of its forecast track.
So a National Weather Service forecaster in New Jersey — called a hero of 2012’s Superstorm Sandy — tweeted an apology for the errant forecast.
Hello???!
Thee was better info available at the time!! Just look at WEATHERUNDERGROUND
And many others downplayed it late afternoon yesterday
Ny and even NOA because of beurocracy depends on antiquidated systems
The locL channels too. PRIVATE weather forecasters are the way to go
It was surely apparent at 11PM when the roads and subways were closed that there NO snow falling. So, they could have delayed the closing.
And then later, when it became clear that the blizzard was not going to happen, they could have reopened everything. Why did this Idiot Mayor and Idiot Governor wait until 8AM to do so?
Andrew u answered your question perfectly.
Cuz he is a IDIOT
My question is, how much did the city make charging $300 fines to those driving in light snow.
Shortly after 10p Craig Allen was telling his Facebook friends that it was beginning to look like NYC and west would dodge the storm.
It was at that point they should have begun putting Humpty Dumpty back together again.
From a political standpoint it was the way to go. In three days this shutdown mess will be old news and largely forgotten. BUT if we had gotten slammed and no precautions had been taken it would be Lindsey’s 1969 Snow Debacle all over (which they were STILL talking about on the news this morning).
