Hundreds of firefighters are battling the 7-alarm fire that started Saturday morning in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.
Fire Department officials say crews will be at the scene of the fire for two to three weeks.
The city Health Department says anyone who lives near the fire or downwind of it should stay inside and keep windows closed.
Health officials say air quality has been affected and people with respiratory ailments may have difficulty breathing.
No serious injuries have been reported from the fire. One person was treated for smoke inhalation.
How convineant, this site will now become a housing project and developer will not have to pay for the tear down. This is a set up and a planned disaster .
Not as likely as you think.
This is a prime property, that was and remains true. Likely uses include luxury housing with extra units to be built in exchange for allowing extra space.
I think there are still demo expenses involved.
Can anyone explain why they need to fight this fire and not let it burn out ?
