A TeeM production (Teeberg/Moskowitz). The stars were out tonight,Reb Yankel Miller (Yarmer Rebbe Shlita), Yeedle, Shloime Dachs, Yehuda Green, Reb Michoel Schnitzler, Shloime Taussig, Shmeil Ber Webber, Yisroel Werdyger, Dovi Tessler, Tzvi Goldring, Aaron Zutler “W”, Chili Posen (Hamezamrim) and more.

After everyone boarded and got a “bissel oichel” Reb Michoel Schnitzler introduced the Yarmer Rebbe shlita Reb Yankel Miller. Reb Yankel had people crying from laughter. Explaining the difference between badchonus and leitzonious, jokes that’s can only be told in 1 language and stam “maises shehoio” that weren’t REAL maises shehoio.

With everyone in a good and joyous mood Reb Michoel (after tzitering a little with Reb Yankel) introduced the First music act of the evening. A newcomer and part of the “Gershy” family Yoily Falkovitch who sang Lechu Neraninu L’ashem (Yeedle). The “Gershy” Orchestra was there giving backup to his vocals which include the talented Dovi Tessler on keyboard and multi talented Tzvi Goldring on Flute, Sax, Soprano Sax and wood flute. Both were amazing and really played well off each other and the acts. Yoily’s voice was solid through the whole performance, a natural.

Yeddle Werdyger singing Video credit http://www.lifeofrubin.com

Reb Michoel got to his feet to announce the next performer. Shmeil Ber Webber is warmly accepted by the crowd. Shmiel Ber approached the stage wearing a captain’s hat and a guitar. He proceeds to play Yehi Rotzon from the Baderech album (Lipa) and we are now immensely enjoying the talent of Shmiel Ber. When the song finished the crowd starts chanting webber webber and Shmiel Ber launches into his next song Ad Heina (Fried). Now I have to say that this is a major Fried song that not many could pull off singing let alone playing it, but he did both spectacularly! The chevrah was finishing every verse with him they were so entranced and into the song. Singing and clapping, Reb Yankel, Yeedle everyone was harmonizing and just singing. For his last song of the evening he chose Yisroel Betach Bashem (Carlebach) which after the first word EVERYONE was either humming or just outright singing. The applauseat the end of his set was thunderous.

Reb Michoel gets up again and says the next performer has a cd coming out shortly and is from a famous family, who is it? Yisroel Werdyger. Now many of you have been hearing his name but not many have seen him live or heard him. You’re in for a treat. He was phenominal! He started with Moshiv (MBD) and well still singing louder the then crowd and hitting those extra high notes it was amazing! I mean check out the video’s and see for yourselves. His next song was the famous Anovim Anovim (MBD) which has been heard at every simcha since Yossi Green re-released it on his album the 8th Note. Yisroel had a surprise of the evening. Yisroel was going to sing a song off his album entitled Kivini which was composed by the one and only Lipa on the night of March 9th. A really upbeat song that caught on fast, so much so that they stopped the music and the crowd was singing it.

Reb Michoel calls out that since Yeedle is there the cousins should sing together and they get right to it singing Kol Yisroel (Yeedle). Wow! Who would have put these two talents together like that? They sounded great together. They then proceeded to sing Ono (mbd) which of course had the crowd going again. Reb Micheol and the crowd are chanting Ma Tamar, so Yeedle obliges them and sings the now famous song! The chevrah went wild! Clapping and singing it was really nice.

Michoel then announces a long time chaver of his will be singing next Shlomo Taussig! Shloime starts off with Venikoiles, (Yossi Green) which is a really old niggiun and get the oliam in a great place and prepared them for the next song. Shloime then starts Ani Maamin (mbd), again if its a song like this that EVERYONE knows then its one big well Kumzits. Shloime again and again surprised the oilom at the height of his voice and of course his vocals, which were of course enhanced by Tzvi Goldring on his array of Flutes and Sax. Next he flowed into the famous Lo Yomius (Michoel Streicher), which again had everyone singing the chorus as one “Pischu Li” and that turned into Al Kol Rega (MBD). Just like last time Shloime sang Lipa’s wildly popular “”Hantelech”, and ended with Ribonoi She’l Oilom (Mona Rosenblum ). Taussig mentioned that among the chevra was Shloime Reichberg from Mekimi, Ari Frankel of AF productions, and Sam Solomon.

Red Michoel says before the main event the BIG event of the evening we will take a 5 minutes break to clear away the tables and let everyone move towards the stage for the Kumzits.
Photo Credit: lifeofrubin.com - Yehuda Green singing
Everyone is already chanting Yehuda green, Yehuda green and singing together. Yehuda Green approaches the starge the crowd goes wild then grows silent and he proceeds so sing Adir Hu (Carlebach). Now when Yehuda starts you can hear a pin drop but as the chorus approaches so does the momentum and the crowd launches into song. How do you describe Yehuda performing? He is IN the song when performing. His voice is so melodious, strong, and powerful. I mean you would have to be to be heard above the throngs or people singing along with him. Yehuda next starts Yisborach Shimcha (Carlebach), which flows into Nachamu nachamu Ami. When Yehuda is finished everyone is calling out their favorite songs and Yehuda tells the crowd that they are his favorite and he loves them all. Next up is Av Harachaman (Carlebach), and finally a Yehuda original I’m Eshkoich (yehuda green). Everyone has been anxiously awaiting this song and proceed to sing along with Yehuda. He follows up with Hashiveinu(Carlebach), and then proceeds to tell the crowd the story of Rav Huna who sold his belt for food for shabbos. The crowd is mesmerized. Now we get to the really good stuff, Shabbos. Yehuda sings Sholoim Aleichem (Carlebach) which then flows into Kiddiush. People sitting on the floor rocking back and forth, singing, with their hands waving in the air, this is Yehuda Green. Haneshomo (Carlebach) is next, and then a definite crowd pleaser The Days are Coming-Henei Yomim Boim. Its getting late and since the beginning people have been shouting for Yehuda to sing The Barditchiver (Yehuda Green) and he gladly launches into the song. The Finale of course is Moishes Niggiun (Yehuda Green). An amazing way to get together in Av yet after Tisha B’av and make a glorious Kiddush Hashem.

This is news not worth to print. But on the other hand if not for this affair i hate to think where some of these people lo aleinu would have been. I just hope they didn’t lie to their wives that they were at a shiur.

This is the nicest Jewish experience I’ve had. If it will only be more often our Jewish world would look much nicer and better.

Gershy what a wonderful job you’ve done.

Thanks a million may hashem repay for all the goods you have done.

Soso, how sad that this is the nicest Jewish experience you have had. My nicest Jewish experience was the Siyum hashas. My other nice Jewish experience is when I go to a shiur , when I daven heatfully. I really feel bad that your yiddishkeit is void of substance.

What bothers me is, that you have people being extra careful to make everything heimish and chsidish (BTW last time all the meat was from Greenfelds Meal Mart in Willy – Good Enough??) Men only (Although a mechitza would be good enough), 95% slow warm songs, nobody is hiding anything – everything is on photo and video…..

Still you have people all over the internet calling the attendess and the organizers “Bums, Low Lives, Look who was there, A Shande, How Terrible,” and on and on.

So I guess in the eyes of some, a hard working father is never entitled to a little fun. Its time we learn to ignore them.

funny how chazal made a takana that zecher l’churban we are not allowed to go to such gatherings, especially if there is letzanus, Shulchan Aruch (560:2), so right after tisha B’av a bunch of bums get together I guess for a bit of nechuma, why is this newsworthy??

I guess all that matters is that you wear your shtreimel and bibberhit, right gershy???

This is a novel concept. I don’t know if it’s a good one (whether religion-wise or business-wise), but it’s interesting. There are more videos at http://kumzitsonthehudson.com/videos.html. What I don’t get is how it could make money. Judging by the videos, there couldn’t have been more than about 250 paying guests on the boat. At $115 a ticket, that’s a little under $30,000 gross. The boat must have cost at least $2,000. The food must have been at least another $1,500. Let’s say their were about fifteen singers and each took an average of $1,000 (I’m sure some took more). That’s another $15,000. Let’s say there were five musicians taking an average of $500 each, that’s another $2,500. The advertising must have cost at least $5,000 to fill the boat. That leaves maybe a few thousand dollars of profit at most. Who puts together a production like that for such little money???

As far as this being a moshav leitzim, I suppose that depends on whom you ask. But I can tell you that it’s better these people should be here than at a goyishe club, wouldn’t you agree? Sometimes you have to accept reality and go with the lesser evil.

Get off your high horse and worry about your own aveiros. Your hatred towards chassidim is self evident. Try to work on your Ahavas Yisroel. Let me just remind you that chazal tell us that the churban happened due to Sinat Chinam.

Unfortunately, many people suffer from depression these days, but instead of seeking help, they will look pull other people into their depression, they can’t see other people have fun, I also think we should restrict cameras on the next kumzitz so not to offend depressed people, when they see us having a good time.

Gershi, Great Job, keep it coming, you are the best..

I am a woman who wouldn’t mind at all if my husband went to this get-together. it’s as kosher as it gets. kosher food, shomer torah yiden, no taruvos. what’s wrong? they should have more of these and perhaps separate ones for women too.

It is unbelievable how some of klal yisrael have become so cynical, to a point where they won’t tolerate any type of entertainment or simcha, they have become so extreme, that whey don’t understand happiness, you rarely see a smile on their faces, and they will seek the negative in anything uplifting as a blame for their miserable lifes….

We all need some relaxation of this pressured life, and this is the most kosher entertainment I have seen in while, Men Only? when is the last time you have seen something like this? But a cynical will never understand.

    a few points

    1.

although this isnt my cup of tea for many people this is a healthy outlet & probaly has a positive effect

    2. you dont have to be called a BUM because you crave such an evening

    3. many people on the video get their emotional nourishment from “MUSIC” it means much more to them

    4. if one feels that he is ready for “hechers” ashrecha!! if you dont like the “Rayach” the shmek you too have a point.

    2. 15 in Av is a Big Yom Tov.

    3. Hashem wanted all of us to enjoy life!! Yes!

    4. Moishev Leitzim????? Are you guys off the wall!?!?!? This is called a “Kumzits”! Oh, and by the way, there was a Shiur on the boat…

    5. You guys better find out what you like to do for fun, or else you’ll burn out in a year or two. Every person – Especially Frum Jews need to do some thing for Fun (that’s what my Therapist told me).

    6. If you don’t like this, just go on and read a different article…

You’ll not find here 1 opposing that is anything but a total “jealous idiot”!! Does who and if they care won’t be on computer spending time on blogs and so on, simchas hachaim is a must these days with many guys working 6 days a week and never get a break and still are erliche yingeleit, Gershy! Keep going! We need more and hashem is sure with you! No doubt!

Women bh have many plays and concerts and other activities during the year which they of course deserve as well (or even more) but its self understood that such event could only be earlich and successful if its men only, and any wife who cares will encourage her husband to go and won’t oppose (but maybe be jealous),

Its sad and pathetic to read the self righteous comments of some of our own. How many people today are at the level where they can say that their sole enjoyment in life is a shiur and that they don’t waste a minute of their time ever? I’m sure that if you’re such a person then you’re not posting comments in this forum!! Once we’ve established that; I have some questions for the posters!! Why can’t they understand when people want to have some kosher fun?? Why doesn’t shmoozing with your chavrusa about chasidishe or litvishe politics or stam shtusim bother them so much??? Don’t judge others just because you don’t have that specific urge rather look at where you are lacking and rectify yourself!!

I am afraid that some of the posters are feeling jealous and should refrain from saying anything.

A Kosher few hours without Holalus or preitzos is NISHT GEFERLACH! If only someone would say a small Shtikel or Vertel on the Parshah it would be Gevaldik!
