South Fallsburg, NY - Fallsburg police removed anti-Semitic graffiti today on a road in South Fallsburg.
Police found swastikas and nooses drawn on Westwood Drive near summer bungalows where orthodox Jews vacation.
“It was just somebody venting,” Chief Simmie Williams said.
But Rabbi Yakov Barros said the matter should be investigated fully.
“Whenever something like this is found anywhere, whether against Jewish or African American people, people need to be educated about it and it has to be publicized,” Barros said. “A Holocaust survivor was walking down that road and they said it was very painful. It is must be horrible to them. When they see this it is really a bitter feeling, a tragic feeling.”

Can't people just stop with the notion that is bad to see swastikas period and NOT JUST because of holocaust survivors?
Anyone writing a swastika is sick in their head and should be thrown in jail. THIS CRIME SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SURVIVORS SEEING IT OR NOT SEEING IT.
A swastika is painful to everyone regardless of religion. hate is hate and it should be dealt with.
What will these idiot spokesperson say in 70 years when there aren't any surviros left that it's not so bad because a surivior wasn't there to see it?
Whenever a swastika is seen in Brooklyn the first thing we hear from poloticians is how the community is outraged because we have survivors in the community. Enough already. Condemn the act for what it is. These people make it sound like it doesn't bother people who have not been through the nazi horrors.

The fact that a Holocaust survivor has seen [the swastikas drawn], is emphasized in a news report, does not make it any less repulsive to anyone else! It only tells us that to a Holocaust survivor it's doubly painful, because it brings up very painful memories!

Oh yeah? That's nice. If you'd fine some disparaging remarks about blacks in one of our camps would you still call it "venting"?
And all the car vandalism, bungalow intrusions and copper pipe stealing that’s all just “venting”, right?
Since you all have access to our blogs, can you show us one hateful post written by a Jew disparaging the local residents who snob us all the time on their venomous blogs of the Heral Record and other local newspapers?
What about all the bigots who we deal with on the highways and byways of Sullivan county, those who give us the finger simply for being Jewish, are they just "venting" as well?

I think that the chief needs some sensitivity training ASAP..doesn't he realize that the person 'venting' is hurting those who practically support the town throughout the year with their 2 month stay?? Since when has 'venting' become a logical reasoning to be excused from a horrible crime??And I agree..if the graffiti had been anti black, the whole town would have been in flames by now...just the blacks 'venting', ay chief??
