Silicon Valley, CA - An obituary for Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs was mistakenly published by Bloomberg News today.

The stock story detailing the death of the Cupertino-based Apple founder, who is still alive, appeared “momentarily” after a reporter had updated it, Bloomberg said.

The incomplete obit was distinctly marked “Hold for release — Do not use,” the reports said

Following is the opening paragraph as it appeared on the Bloomberg wire: “Steve Jobs, who helped make personal computers as easy to use as telephones, changed the way animated films are made, persuaded consumers to tune into digital music and refashioned the mobile phone, has XXXX. He was TK. Jobs XXXX, TK said XXXXX.”

Bloomberg, which was founded by New York mayor Michael Bloomberg and prides itself on its accuracy and transparency, later published a note acknowledging the story's retraction on its wire.

“An incomplete story referencing Apple Inc. was inadvertently published by Bloomberg News at 4:27 p.m. New York time today,” the message read. “The item was never meant for publication and has been retracted.”

A Bloomberg spokeswoman said: "This was a routine update of a biography by the obits department, meant for the internal system and not meant for publication. It was momentarily posted on the external wire, in error, and immediately deleted."

Jobs, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2003, has been reluctant to publicly discuss his health, but recently denied claims that his cancer had returned, the reports said.

True Story

The Nobel peace prize was founded by Dr.Alfred Nobel.

He was an inventor, and his field of expertise was explosives (I think he invented some major stuff in that field). Anyway, through some mistake he had his obituary published in the paper, and it described him as an inventor of explosives...

He started thinking if blowing things up is the kind of legacy he wants to leave and he decided to invest all his efforts to promote peace.

That is correct. Dr Nobel invented TNT trinitrotoluene. It was inherently more stable than dynamite, which is essentially nitro glycerine absorbed into sawdust. If dropped exposed to sunlight, or aged, it could explode at anytime. TNT was much safer. It's made by combining three parts toluene with one part nitroic acid. As acatalyst for the endothermic reaction that produces the TNT, a drop of sulfuric acid is added to the mxture. An endo- thermic reaction results, indicated by a drop in temperature in the thermometer and the liquid will seperate into water on top, which is poured of and an oily yellow liquid on bottom which is retained. Thank you Dr. Nobel for making high school chemistry so much more interesting.

Thank you for the bomb making instructions, we don't need them. Why don't you peddle your wares on an Islamic website.

As Mark Twain once famously said "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated"

Two corrections...
1 - Dr. Nobel's brother died. That was the mistake. They confused the names & thought it was him and his prize was not just for Peace but advancements that help humanity (Science, Medicine, etc...)
2 - The mark Twain quote was actually, "Reports of my early demise have been greatly exaggerated."
