Speaking from their home in Hod HaSharon, Baum’s father, Robert, says Baum always wanted to return to Israel, but they did not think it would happen this way, according to Ynet News (http://bit.ly/1y6WFOm).

Baum was born in Kfar Saba and had moved to Barcelona. He was traveling to Germany for work meetings. Baum married his wife, Eugenia – a resident of Barcelona – two years ago. Baum’s family is in contact with his wife.

The family said Baum was supposed to travel to Israel next week to celebrate the Seder with them.
Right now, they are awaiting news of the recovery of his body to bring him to Israel to bury him, but they are losing hope that he will be found.

The plane was carrying 144 passengers, including Baum, and six crew members. French Transport Ministry announced there are no survivors.
French authorities established a command post near the crash zone with rescue forces and management centers, including 250 soldiers and police officers, 280 firefighters and rescue forces, including ten doctors, surgeons and pathologists. Ten helicopters are working to transfer troops and equipment to the scene of the crash.

An Israeli consul in Marseilles arrived at a town near the scene of the crash.
