Brooklyn, NY – Jewish Press Endorses Rival Of Simcha Felder In Senate Primary

    53

Kendel StewartBrooklyn, NY – Kendall Stewart, 21st SD (D-Boro Park, Flatbush, Kensington, Midwood) — Dr. Kendall Stewart is completing his second term as a member of the New York City Council representing the 45th Council District (which includes Boro Park, Flatbush and East Flatbush) where he has served with distinction and built a close working relationship with the Jewish community. On the other hand, we’ve become disenchanted over the past two years with incumbent senator Kevin Parker’s lack of responsiveness to our community. The third candidate is Councilman Simcha Felder, certainly no stranger to our community and certainly a positive force on the City Council. However, after initially announcing a run for the office of NYC Comptroller and later for Brooklyn Borough President, he belatedly shifted to a race for the Senate seat in the 21st SD, well past the time we had committed to Dr. Stewart and any reasonable period for possible reconsideration. In any event, we wholeheartedly support Dr. Stewart.

No time for possible reconsideration? What a clever lie. Felder is well known to the jewish press and they could’ve easily endorsed him. They’ve failed to explain why Stewart over Felder. What has he delivered to our community.

A true Simcha to see Felder’s opponent endorsed.

History shows us, we can ONLY GET HELP FROM NON JEWS.

The jewish representatives are our misrepresentatives! VOTE FOR KENDALL STEWART! for then we will have a true friend in the City Council.

A little surprising and their excuse of Felder’s late entry into the race is lame. The Jewish Press endorsement means little, especially now with their shrinking advertising and circulation. I know all 3 candidates in the race, and even ignoring the fact that Simcha is one of ours, he has a record far superior to either Parker or Stewart.

Simcha should be the guy but there is alot of pressure from rabanim behind the scenes not to have Simcha voted in because he brought a lesbian to Bais yaakov shoocl last year to lecture our children.

    (Christie Quinn)

Also the Aguda did not get their 348.000 and up to 10 million this year from city, state and federal programs and they are blaming Simcha Felder for this.

I doubt it has anything to do with Simcha but what has the Aguda done for jews in NYC over the last 10 years? I would venture to say NOTHING so the aguda does not deserve any funds.

The aguda should explain where the funds have been going the last couple of years.

Anyone who is active in the leadership of the Jewish community knows how much damage Felder inflicted on the community. I am absolutely not surprised to see the Jewish Press support Felders opponent. There are an enormous part of the Heimish population that despises Felder.

Lets look a little dipper why the Jewish Press didn’t endorse Simcha Felder.

    1) Shelly Silver – Jewish Press doesnt do anything with out Shelly’s advice.

    2) Shelly Silver – Felder is for Tution Tax Credit and Silver not, cause of the teachers union

    3) Shelly Silver – Imagine the boss in Albany has another Jew in Albany that he won’t be able to control.

while the agudah may very well be mighty ticked at felder, that is not why the jewish press didn’t endorse felder.

I don’t think anyone in felder’s district will be swayed either way by the jewish press’s endorsement or the lack of it.

I don’t know the other candidates but I did watch our politician who was supposed to represent our intrests in the city and I observed that felder has his political ambitions that dictates evrey move he gives.

never ever did he stand up for our needs if he wasn’t sure that its not going to interfere with his own ceshbonos.

one small example is the bloombergs traffic congestion plan what the yidishe oilem strongly opposed but it was felder who smiled to bloomberg and trow his support .

bloomberg who is new yorks putin is now looking to put his friends into leadership positions in many city and state offices so they will change the term limits so he can run for mayor a third term .

no wonder that the democrat-/epublican-Independen BLOOMBERG endorsed him together with other endorsements he made recently.

bottom line as a private boro parker yingerman I strongly believe that any of the two other candidates would do a much better job representing our needs at the state level in albany.

lets not get overwhelmed by the beautiful photographic ads of simchas campaign .

Judging from the intelligence level of those Jewish Press-haters who posted above, I’m proud to say I read the paper every week — and embearrassed that outsiders who read this blog will think ignorant ranting and fractured syntax represent a typical yeshiva education. I’m a frum economics professor (who wears a black hat) and I can only say the posters above who spew about the Jewish Press either haven’t read the paper in who knows how long (anyone who calls it a “yellow rag” is frozen in time — I’d like an example from the last number of years on how it’s a “yellow rag” — or is just hiding the fact that they don’t agree with the paper’s hashgafa.

In any event, just the fact that Kendall Stewart has a doctorate degree in Podiatry makes me think he’s more qualified than the other two candidates. Although he has had his share of investigations for supposed improprieties, nothing has been proven to date. Remember, he is a politician and it just goes with the territory especially here in NYC. As for Simcha Felder even though he is mishelonu, he did endorse Bloomberg’s congestion planning which tells me he does things for political reasons whatever they may be. About the third guy, I have no opinion of him since I don’t know anything about the guy.

Anonymous: You say you haven’t read the Jewish Press for 20 years. You prove my point. How can you criticize something you admit you have no knowledge of? As to “on&on” — it was not a misspelling, it was a typo, if you know the difference. I accidentally typed in an extra letter in one word of my first comment above, and from that you say I can’t spell. Of course you didn’t address the substance of what I wrote. As I said in my first comment, the level of discourse in the comments section is an embarrassment — it’s mostly name calling, gossip mongering, and sheer nivel peh, delivered in embarrassingly bad English. The website itself is fine — an invaluable source of news for the frum community. But why the powers-that-be allow for comments is beyond me. They diminsh the frum community no end.

Someone needs to check into the real reasoning behind this endorsement.

Kendall Stewart… are you kidding me? Please, educate yourselves and visit this article http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/04/16/2-city-council-aides-face-federal-charges/?hp

Stewart’s Chief of Staff STOLE $31,000 in taxpayer money, slated for a non-profit and send it to his friends in Jamaica.

So now the Jewish Press is advocating that the voters allow Stewart access to a larger pocketbook? That is unbelievable.

As for Parker… they should try talking to people who live in his community. Parker is incredibly responsive to the Jewish community and has built pretty solid relationships with many of our community leaders and organizations.

It is appalling that the Jewish Press’ editorial board chose to endorse someone who’s own top staff member – his closest aide – is a proven thief over someone who is actually qualified for the job.

What a shame to see how far they have fallen.

I am not a big Simcha Felder fan, but who should I vote for, kevin parker or Kendall stewart.Look at their records, Stewart stole mony from organizations and parker has been arrested more times than the amount of legislation he passed. Parker brought less than $200,000 to the district while Simcha brought over $3,000,000. Im not voting for Simcha because its good for him, but its the best choice for me.

Stewart’s staff stole mony that he allocated. He has not been accused of anything. Kevin Parker was only arrested once for attacking a parking agent. Felder has not been accused of stealing anything or attacking anyone. Both Stewart and Parker have been attentive to our community for the purpose of getting our votes.

The Jewish Press failure to endorse Felder confirms that he is the one to vote for. The Jewish press, is however, a great place to find ads for apartments.

First Simcha does have Semicha from Harav Pam.

Second, Simcha didn’t cut money from Aguda and the Met, the speaker did it. By the way every year when the Agudah got money they gave credit & thank yous to David Weprin not to Simcha so when the Money gets cut you blame Simcha? Why don’t they go to David Weprin? Regarding the UJO He gave them in the past and gave them this year too.

anonymous 09-04-2008 – 4:27 PM – You are correct with what you wrote regarding the funding. As being involved in the Budget it’s a shame to see how the Jewish Community reacted to this years budget.

A lot of organizations got cut, due too paper work or investigations, and there were some new organizations that got funded that had all the correct documents to supply.
