Dasha Rittenberg, along with filmmaker Menachem Daum, visited Rittenberg’s grandfather’s gravesite, attended the dedication ceremony for the museum and also met with a Polish Catholic bishop, reports PBS (http://to.pbs.org/1I78vxD).
In Rittenberg’s hometown of Bedzin, they met a Polish couple who rent an apartment once used for Jewish prayers. The couple hosts local students in the apartment to teach them about the Jews who once lived in their town.
Daum says a big part of the opening of the Museum of the History of the Polish Jews focuses on the fact that Polish-Jewish history is an important part of Poland’s history.
