New York, NY – Councilman David G. Greenfield has asked the MTA to remove the #ImNoAngel ads from the F subway lines that travel through the Chasidic and Orthodox communities of Borough Park and Midwood.

For the past few weeks, the clothing company Lane Bryant has featured ads on the outside and inside of F subway trains. The campaign, called #ImNoAngel, displays women in their underwear. Greenfield has received numerous complaints from families with small children who have been shocked to see these ads displayed in their communities.
“Our local neighborhoods are not Times Square. These are where families live and children walk the streets. It’s not just subway riders who see these ads that literally wrap an entire train. People see these ads from their streets, their cars, and even their own windows facing the elevated line. We’re asking that the MTA be sensitive to the concerns of families by removing them from the subway or, at the very least, moving the ads to other lines,” said Councilman Greenfield.
The MTA routinely turns down ads that they deem inappropriate, most recently declining to advertise an overly-suggestive ad for DUMBO Moving and Storage.
Sharia.
How does this relate to the ads in the Philly subway many people find offensive?
I have seen these disgusting ads. I try hard to try to shield my children from these type of pictures. My small son asked me the other day, “Abba, why are these women not wearing any clothes”?
I understand that we are not living in a small shtetel tucked away in no-man’s land, however, am I forced to have this shoved in my face?
We choose to live in such a society, we must pay the price. There are many things that are offensive to orthodox Jews but we need to ignore them and teach our children why this is not the norm.
Thanks VIN for blurring the picture.
These ads should be removed from the entire system. You can’t avoid them. But like the offensive ads in Philadelphia, the system probably can’t refuse them without getting sued (and losing the lawsuit).
Are we becoming a cloistered nation – if one is offended by the ads – don’t go on the subway, the bus or walk in the street, The summer is coming and what is on the advertisements may be nothing as to what is on the street.
If one;s mind is that suggestive then maybe that person should look at himsel instead.
This is ridiculous. Why can’t people just turn their heads away if they don’t like the picture? This reminds me of the photo of Obama and his cabinet, where Hillary Clinton was edited out.
people get a life! greenfield find something else to whine about, move to New Sqaure or KJ if you want shelter, your in NYC
Whether I like or dislike the ad. There is no legal standing to remove those ads. At the same time greenfield can and should ask to remove it. But it is request not a legality.
Very nice of Mr. Greenfield to call the MTA. Now Mr. Greenfield, you can make a SECOND CALL to the MTA and request that they bring back the MTA EXPRESS X-29 BUS TO THE FRUM NEIGHBORHOOD YOU REPRESENT.
in the long run you cannot hide. look at what happened to williamsburg once the yuppies moved next door. you walk on lee avenue and now you dont have to worry about being on the same side as the opposite sex, you have to worry about half naked cyclists and people roaming around
Documents of the skin life of bad prediction. They want a slave culture for a penny made. Better cover your eyes. The ayatollah would be a bigger mess.
Anyone who has ever been to a museum knows that from Egyptian to Greek to Roman times nude statues and pictures were all over the place.
The real problem is that society has become so immoral, that they believe it’s all acceptable and normal. We live on an age where modesty is completely out the window, the filth and Znus is in the street openly (as the Torah says will take place in the times before Moshiach comes). But the yetzer hara is always at work looking to make our people stumble. It’s not so easy or reasonable to just tell our community to ignore it and not look. What about our children and young men?

ok let me just admit and say that at 16 yrs old, it is hard to look away. heck, its REALLY hard. I agree with the ridiculousness of blocking out a political figure such as Hillary Clinton- but hello? there has to be some sort of balance of what the media is streaming or showing live to society. wer talking more than half nude women on a BUS for crying out loud!! that shouldn’t be considered normal and should bother people. because at the end of the day it is hard to look away or erase what one has already seen before he looked away.
