Living with the Trauma, Living with the Terror,A & Living with the Truth Sexual Abuse can be repressed with the trauma revisited in sensory triggers and stressors which set off a vivid revisiting of the molestation and exploitation. The horror can be replayed on the mind’s eye without reprieve, muting and dulling life’s joys and exacerbating life’s reversals. It is a rape of the soul.
Any one who wonders why this is such an important topic that needs to continue to be raised in our community should listen to the show.

The excuses about "eidus" or kosher witnesses are getting boring, especially since this is an untrue fact. The issue of proper witnesses is a serious one, but our leading poskim discuss the matter (R' Wosner & R' Elyashiv Shlit"a). In situations such as this, where actual witness is impossible, there are other acceptable forms of witness. Do bear in mind that the individual who is complaining is not a witness but a "baal din" - litigant.
The problem will notbe solved onthe radio or through the internet blogs. But the awareness is useful.

You go Dov! Don't be intimidated by some closed minded detractors - you nare doing a great service by making the public aware of this horrible problem. Of course in an ideal world this would not be necessary or would have been taken care of through Rabbonim in a more private forum but that has not happened and we must do whatever we can to be mefarsaim this so that the schools & yeshivas start behaving reponsibly and not just hide and bury everything at all costs to
keep the reputation of their Mosad as being 100%
clean and perfect. We need to face facts. Also parents need to know to educate their children about inappropriate behavior to come forward.
If there is 100% verification that Mosad directors knowingly covered up for molestors and
instead wentg affter the poor victims then they should be fired and never allowed to work in Chinuch. If they are the owners of a Mosad it should be boycotted - it would send a message that this will not be tolerated any longer and there are consequences.

If the show was too explicit for people to hear, why are these crimes not to explicit for our leaders to tolerate???
If you are angry at Dov Hikind for discussing it on the radio which you are are free to turn off, why isn't your blood boiling that children have been forced to experience it???
For that matter, you should also be yelling that Rav Weissmandel was telling graphic details no one should have to hear when he tried getting the American gov't to bomb the rail lines to the death camps. There must have been a more 'toirahdig' way of dealing with the problem. Too bad all you lunatics weren't around to straighten him out.
If all you can cry about is the publicity than all that bothers you is your community's image. Too bad you all don't have enough yiddisher rachmanus in you to feel any pain for the victims. You don't give a rat's *** about what happened and continues to happen to children so long as the community can still pretend all is well in Brooklyn.

They are not going to be helped unless people know all that is being done to them. Look at what has happened until now - NOTHING.
It is only when these things are Publicized in all their sordid details that anything even starts to move forward.
So just sit in your house and turn off your radio. Shkoich!

DOV is doing the right thing. If Rabanim would get involved Dov would not have to do it this way. It is sick people like you and others who do not want to deal with this that it got to come to this.
And for people that are still in denial the perp went into Dov Hikinds office and ADMITTED THE CRIMES. NOBODY had a gun to the perps head. Dov Hikind happened to know the perp fro 25 years and was shocked but did not act like the many fools on these blogs which always claim that people "they know" can not possibly do any type of crimes.
We still believe that people who protect molestors are molestors themselves.
There is only one thing which Dov had no right to address on public radio. Asking a couple about their private life is TOTALLY OFF LIMITS PERIOD.
If the FCC got a hold of tonights show Dov Hikind would get fined and thrown off the radio.
Dov does great stuff for the community but why on earth he asked such private questions? It was just not right and very hurtful to many listeners.

Unfortunately, Dov lacks any of the experience which Rabbi Horowitz so masterfully exhibits. Unlike Dov, Rabbi Horowitz discusses these issues with respect, honor and purity. Before embarking on such important and sensitive a task he ought to seek advice from professionals in this area such as Rabbi Horowitz. And if he already has, he should continue. How do I know?
NY enacted a law that schools need to do background checks and report and incidences of abuse. TWO GROUPS FOUGHT AND WON EXCEPTIONS FOR RELIGIOUS SCHOOL THE CHURCH AND AGUDATH.
Interesting bed fellows, or maybe not you decide.
PS I see from the past 20 years of this issue that dealing with it in a "Torah way" has gotten nowhere and made the matters worse. Since the molesters know the consequences of their action is nothing. Do people forget that the Torah way would be to stone them, kill them of give them malkes. Are soom so naive to thing that if someone got caught molesting children during the time the Torah was given that this type of people would have any chance of living. The Torah way is to deal with it and punish the perpetrator.
That is the Torah way, the rabbis way (which is not the Torah way in many cases) is threaten the victim and hopefully it will go away Therefore, I do not have to deal with an issue that I am not capable of handling and show my flock I am human and fallible

There is no "nice" way to have a radio show about this. The guest could have been much more graphic about his experience but was clearly uncomfortable doing so. I think he should have been more graphic and not leave it up to v'hamaivin yovin. People need to be shocked and outraged to a point where the listeners blood boils and seethes with anger at the churban that is befalling our children. The graphic sexual acts which are performed with and on these children are heinous and incomprehensible to adults let alone children. Their entire emotional being is affected and altered forever. The radio show said numerous times that the show was not for children. As far as tznius is concerned, how does one bring public awareness to a very critical problem facing us and make the listener really understand what is happening and the ramifications for such actions without talking about it in an open fashion? Normal minds cannot relate to molestation the same way they cannot fathom how someone can take a knife and cut a persons head off. However brutal murder happens and so does molestation. Unfortunately molestation is in our community. As torah jews we cannot comprehend that it is in our community and therefore have an easier time denying it. It is present in EVERY community and in a large portion of our yeshivas. We NEED to know it is happening. This is a silent killer. If there was a cancer causing agent present in the building material of some of the yeshiva buildings in town the parents would leave no stone unturned to make sure it was not present in the yeshiva they send their child to. This should be no different.

Here is my observation of the show last night:
I think the point of the show is to raise awareness for the people who still have their head deep in the sand. This is his smoking gun to those folks who did not believe the women in Williamsburg. By having the abuser show up to Dov's office last week and saying I am sorry (who knows what I would have done to such a person) shows that IT IS A TRUE STORY (again for those who are still in denial). You cannot say that it did not happen.
Another point is that it can be anyone, and not just a Rebbi , can be a abuser.
Thank you Dov, “Dovid” and “Rochel” for being on the show last night.
So where do we go from here? My idea is to take a play out of the playbook from Agudah (who I have lost respect for, maybe just maybe they can do something right here to earn my and many others respect back). That is to call and email (like they wanted us to email and call the White House for Jonathan Pollard) Agudah our concerns concerning this issue. We tell them we want ACTION (action means that ALL people involved in the coverup and who are the abusers are thrown out of their positions!!), AWARENESS, and not have their Gedolei Torah sweep it under the rug (like they did a few years ago at a Agudah Convention speech). It seems to me that Agudah does not take this seriously. While we are at it we also should “HIT” Torah Umesorah with the same calls and emails. WE NEEED TO PROTECT OUT KIDS. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone know the Phone numbers and email addresses where we should direct this to??

Not that Goldstein was correct in shooting them; rather in his outlook that the only good arab is a dead arab - which you yourself believe.

The show was excellent, unfortunately we have no systems in place in the yeshiva community to combat abuse. If even one person gets helped because of various victims speaking up its worth the tarnishing of the yeshiva school system. The Poskim say Pikuach Nifoshos is docheh Talmud Torah D'rabim.I know first hand of many cases of abuse which go unreported due to embarasement. This type of abuse leads these kids to all types of addiction including sex addiction. These addictions destroy their lives and very rarely do they recover. I think we should do open shows on Verbal, mental and physical abuse too, which plagues the yeshiva community in epidemic numbers.Tzion Bimishpot Tipodeh, the Navi clearly states to get justice for the victims will redeem us in this exile/concealment. If the Daas Torah has another way let them speak up now, because there will be more shows and more venues of bringing these abuses to open forums. Especially with the high ratings. Some Askanim get motivated when they can draw a little Kovod. They may even get a TV show like Dr. Phil.and then they will get big bucks too.

But, seriously, in the future, please, warn us when you are going to post something so funny. I started laughing while I had coffee in my mouth and it took two hours to find a spare keyboard.

09-07-2008 - 11:39 AM i was a bit concerned about that too, however i thought about it and again i dont know him but it sounds to me that he dosent look at kids but at adults (which is normal to a certain degree) and from the way he sounded he would never hurt a child but i agree that concern did cross my mind as well when he said that, so i hope dov thought of it too and verified that he is safe indeed in any case he was hurt badly and i wish him the best.

Last night I tried to listen to the show with my teenaged ,yeshiva bocher son.I could not.It was simply inappropriate.
Dov, you must realize that most of the Orthodox community you represent does not feel comfortable with this level of exposure. So while the message is correct, you need to tone down the graphic nature. We can get the message even if it's not explicitly spelled out!
I do hope, Dov,that you read these feedbacks to get more community input

To all of that are so concerned that Dov questioned the couple about their intimate relationship... All questions were asked so you naive people that still want to disregard this subject and live in denial should understand EXACTLY what happens to a victim. He didnt even go in to the real disgusting act itself, and you already have what to cry about. For you information, do you know that are many couples out there that are getting divorced within a few weeks after their marriage because one of them did not have a healthy mind to have relationships?! They were afraid and refused to have any contact?! WHY?! Do you have an answer for this?! How many broken homes do we still need to have till you are going to face reality?! Dov wanted you to understand fully the consequences of sexual abuse. How much more explanation do you need?

it is people like you who scare me that yiddishgiet is becoming a cult. Cult memebers never could look at their leader in a critcal way. take what their leaders say and do not look back
Let see the evidence, in two big major cases. Kolco and Mondrowtiz. First, even after evidence was provided these two still had free access to young children for many years with no restriction placed on then by any robonim. The robonim spend all their time threatening the victims to keep silent.
The only time something was done to protect the children is when the police/government where informed. And even then what was the response of the robonim, PROTECT THE MOLESTERS AT ALL COST EVEN to SHIP to Israel and of course still give him Mondrowtz access to children.
eli, did I open your eyes yet? Or, maybe you can proved us with some details, evidence, that the robonim have dealt with this to protect the children instead of protecting the molester
THIS MIGHT BE HARD FOR SOME TO READ
part of the blame belongs to the parents. Either by not believing their children, and not taking direct action control of the situation. Once you see that the powers to be where doing nothing, and saw the molester still teaching, parent should out them and or go to the police instead. Or start a boycott the Yeshiva. Instead of, following the Robonim like brainless robots who cannot do anything without the approval of the inept or corrupt robonuim.
Why I ask is there still children in Torath Tememha, and it seems Satmer? These yeshivas not only protected molester they also gave access to your children to these molesters for many years?
When these stories where made public and the evidence almost indisputable there should have been a mass exudes and boycott of these yeshivas. I am not parent, but it seems just crazy and insane that parents still send children to these places. And even if the molesters are now gone, their protectors and enablers and still there.
maybe someone can explain this to me since I am lost to answer this simple question
