Three men hired by the farm were cleared to open fire Friday afternoon in a stream in woods in the town of Coeymans (KWEE’-mihnz), about 10 miles south of the capital.
Police say the decision was made after experts agreed tranquilizers would not be effective and no portable corrals could hold the animals.
Authorities say they escaped Thursday from a farm across the Hudson River in the Rensselaer (rehn-suh-LEER’) County town of Schodack (SKOH’-dak). The owner believes they swam across the river to the town of Bethlehem, where they wandered across a busy stretch of Interstate 87 and into neighboring Coeymans.

I once drove down the M4 in London & overtook a few cows. Best sight of the day.
All you people should never visit Alaska this happens all the time with moose and musk ox, etc. you never allowed to shoot them unless you have a permit or they are absolutely threatening a person or people. People should have stayed in their cars until a herder came to control the situation. Stupidity and fear without knowledge seems to always win and animals loose.
