J.M. Giordano, who works at the City Paper, says Baltimore police “swarmed over” him and hit him repeatedly. A video posted to the newspaper’s website Sunday shows at least two police officers in riot gear hitting and kicking Giordano as the person filming screams, “He’s a photographer! He’s press!”

The 41-year-old Giordano says his head hit the ground during the beating, which he says only stopped when someone pulled him out of the fray.

Sait Serkan Gurbuz, a photographer with Reuters, says police detained him as he shot pictures of the scuffle. Reuters says Gurbuz was cited with failure to obey orders.

A Baltimore police spokesman hasn’t immediately commented.

When a man with a gun wags his finger in your face, do we call that a “chat?”

To #5 - In 1999, in the case of Gideon Bosch, the cops in Borough Park, essentially got away with murder. They shot and killed a frum, mentally disturbed man, who was not directly threatening them. He was not charging at them with a hammer, and could have been disarmed, without shooting him dead. In 2006, the bullying cops again returned to Borough Park, and manhandled, beat, harassed, and abused crowds of people in the street. The crowds were protesting the mistreatment of Mr. Schick, of Schick’s Bakery, over a traffic incident. One of the cops who shoved Mr. Schick into a paddy wagon, was heard stating “This is how we treat Nig—s”. The Baltimore Police in this case, intimidated and beat two members of the press who were authorized to be in the area, and film the disturbances. It reminds me of the way the Chicago cops attacked the press in 1968, at the Democratic National Convention.

I want to know another side of this story.

The “reporter” who was allegedly roughed up, works at City Paper. Such “reporters” are typically not respectable human beings, neither are they legitimate reporters (they “report” for City Paper, don’t they?) So I would like to read the police report on what actually transpired.

As for this Reuters photographer: we all saw Reuters photographs of dead blood covered palestinian boys who either turned up to be alive and well or killed by their own vermin. He was detained for failure to obey orders. Well, when police is trying to break up mass violence, looting, destruction of property, etc., you better do obey their orders. Being detained is the best thing that could happen to this scoundrel.

We enjoy an excellent relationship with the police in this city, cooperate fully, most often against the criminal men of the same type who were perpetrating violent “protests” last motzaei shabbos and, being involved in our Citizen Patrol, it would take a lot of indisputable evidence to make me suspect that our police did anything wrong.

I am so sick of all the people Frum or not Frum, using race as an excuse! I don’t care what color you are, take responsibility for what you do. There are good cops & those who are corrupt as in every walk of life..from clergy to teachers to CEOs to janitors. And in all those positions, the people that serve, come in all races and religions but the division has widened in the past decade. The police are not to blame, society is..we have become ‘politically correct’, ashamed to stand up for our principles, scared to say NO to our children, treating our criminals like heroes & our heroes like criminals! Those in charge are so screwed up that down is up and visa versa..the absurd comments on VIN that blame police officers and not the THUGS, (regardless of color) are the reason this dysfunction will continue!
