Kiryas Joel, NY - Orange County elections officials are investigating why a polling station in Kiryas Joel apparently closed 15 to 30 minutes ahead of the 9 p.m. scheduled closing time in Tuesday's primary.
Officials say it's unclear at this time what happened but are interviewing poll workers and sheriff's deputies assigned to the site.
A county-wide primary was being held Tuesday for the Independence line in the Orange County Surrogate Court judge race.
Other primaries were being held for party committee seats and in the City of Port Jervis and for Democratic line in the 100th Assembly District.

The Sheriffs deputy assigned to the site wanted to go home early, and since there was no one there, they closed it down. No one was turned away from voting.
