The Council on American-Islamic Relations released a statement Friday saying the groups want the Department of Justice to discontinue the “stigmatizing, divisive, and ineffective initiative” in Minneapolis.
Similar concerns have been raised in Boston and Los Angeles, where the DOJ also has launched pilot programs aimed at preventing terror recruiting by creating opportunities for people considered at risk.
The Minnesota program focuses on the Somali community. Dozens of young Somalis have left the state in recent years to join terror groups overseas.
Some local Somalis say the community-led initiative is needed, but CAIR says focusing on one community raises civil rights concerns.
Minnesota’s U.S. Attorney’s Office is reviewing the statement.
Hey – if you TERRORISTS don’t like the US LAW then go back to the Middle East you came from.
