Stephanie Jorge, 26, left her job in the counting room early April 7 and never returned to work, reports NY Daily News (http://nydn.us/1FDlSXC).

Jorge was working the overnight shift at the warehouse on Kent Ave. in Williamsburg. Security footage of the room where Jorge worked shows her taking of her apron and covering piles of cash. The video shows her 30 minutes later picking up her smock, tucking it under her arm and leaving the building.

Documents allege she left with ten stacks of $10,000 each.

The security manager called Jorge the next day and gave her the opportunity to return the money to the facility. Jorge said she would, according to the complaint made in court, and they set up a meeting for the next day – but Jorge never showed up.

Ensuing talks with two lawyers who claimed to represent Jorge also never came to fruition. A search warrant of Jorge’s residence in Bushwick did not find the cash.

Assistant Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Karen Koniuszy suggested Jorge’s bond for release be $100,000 in cashe, but defense lawyer Michael Schneider was against that, stating Jorge could then go in front of a jury to explain where the money came from.

Jorge was eventually released on a $100,000 unsecured bond.
