Pittsfield Township, MI – Swastikas, KKK on Obama Billboard

Pittsfield Township, MI – Police are investigating who painted a swastikas, letters symbolizing the Ku Klux Klan and hooded figures on a 10 feet tall by 50 wide billboard for presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Drivers heading north on U.S. 23 just south of Michigan Avenue began calling police to report the graffiti, Lt. Stephen Heller said. A boom truck from the Washtenaw County Road Commission was used to take the billboard covering down by noon.

Residents who live near the base of the billboard on Textile Road didn’t hear or see anything overnight, Heller said. Trees near the billboard and a bean field block their view of the sign, he added.

Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call the Pittsfield Township Police Department.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a set up by the Obama campaign.

Michal — I don’t know what kind of twisted world you live in. Just because you don’t want to vote for someone, everything about them must be mercenary and nefarious?

Thank you, Anonymous 3:50pm. We Jews are appalled when swastikas and the like appear in our neighborhoods. We would feel incredibly invalidated and accuse others of racism if they insinuated that we had done it to garner sympathy or some other end. Thus, as the torah says, “V’ahavta Lareacha Kamocha.” True, it is remotely possible that they placed the swastika to garner sympathy. But it is better to stand by them and support them even if they are lying, than to accuse them of malfeasance if they are truly victims. I assure you that if this had happended to a Jewish politician, Michal would not be so quick to cast unwarrented accusations!

Nevertheless, most highly-publicised “hate incidents” such as this do turn out to be self-inflicted. Chances are at least reasonable that this is another example, whether it was done by an official Obama volunteer or by a sympathiser.

Is that so, you asked God about that? You are sure that God is ok with Jews lacking Altruism and Empathy for others? Thats right, it is lacking true empathy if you only care about your “in-group” but have no feelings whatsoever for those outside your group. Read some social psych

Milhouse – so all those swastikas and anti-semitic slogans that get painted on yeshiva and shuls and Jewish homes all the time are inside jobs? Thanks for clearing that up!

    Remember Tawana Brawley, anyone?

50-50 either way. But if this was done by a racist it was DUMB because it will backfire. Then again most hick racists are DUMB!

some of you guys are nuts or smoking (kosher of course) weed.

The same people who hate us also hate blacks. read some neo-nazi movement literature and find out for yourselves, they use the swastika to harass blacks well anybody not white, and are repulsed by obama.

yes i remember Tawana Brawley, yes so what, so anytime a a Jew gets accused of some financial fraud and if people so no, all one has to say remember Pinter (I figured I would be nice and not mention rebbis)

are you so narrow minded, a horse with blinders on sees more than some on you

If this is the way you want to play, then I suppose if there is ever, lo oleinu, another terrorist attack, we should blame Cheney, because his chief of staff, when Congress wasn’t complying with his demands for expanded power, said we were “one attack away” from a blank check for the executive.

    Ridiculous there & ridiculous here.

Some antisemitic attacks are indeed staged, but most are real. Almost all anti-Arab attacks are hoaxes. Anti-black attacks are somewhere in the middle, but if you look at the most highly-publicised ones over the past 10 years or so, you’ll find that the majority that were solved turned out to be hoaxes. Those are the FACTS. All the emotion and recrimination in the world won’t change them. And based on that FACTUAL RECORD I conclude that this attack is also LIKELY to be a hoax.

Anon 4:37 PM, yes, they are not “re’acho”. Yes, I’m sure of it. Go learn some less social psych and crack a sefer instead, and maybe you won’t be such an amhoretz. The mitzvah is called Ahavas YISROEL, not Ahavas Bnei Odom.

if they are facts I am confident you can post your source. If you cannot, then I guess it is not a fact

What does Tawana Bradley have to do with Barack Obama? That incident happened over twenty years ago; I think Obama was in law school then. Al Sharpton, who defended Tawana Bradley, isn’t exactly one of Obama’s biggest supporters.

    Milhouse,

Thank you for responding to my comments. However, I continue to disagree with you. As a social scientist (psychologist), I am interested in empirical data and I am sure you have none to support your contentions regarding fake claims of racism. More importantly, why must it be a “mitzvah” for you to feel empathy for a non-jew. It is not a mitzvah to drink soda, do you avoid that? The only possibly relevant question is whether it is an averah.

If you’re so interested, do your own research; check up on every incident that was reported in a major newspaper, and then see whether it was ever solved. Of those that were solved, find out how many were done by white people out of racial animus, and how many were done by the “victim” or by another black person.

Do the same with anti-Arab incidents, and the results will be even more enlightening.

Anon, you’re the one who brought up “ve’ohavto lere’acho komocho”. As soon as your error is pointed out, you turn around and say “who cares if it’s a mitzvah”. If you don’t care whether it’s a mitzvah, then why bring it up in the first place?

    To Milhouse

You are the one who said it was a fact, so you or someone must have done research. If you cannot produce a study your statement is meaningless

You are so much like people who say, The fact is the Jews own all the bank media, etc. When asked they give the answer like you or say everybody knows but can never produce evidence.
