Montreal, Canada – Dozens of people were out protesting this afternoon in the Plateau district. They’re protesting the expansion of a synagogue on Hutchison street.
The Plateau borough council approved a 400-thousand dollar project to renovate and expand the 60-year-old synagogue…which belongs to an orthodox sect called Gate David of Bobov.
Some locals say it will bring more traffic and increase long-standing friction with the Hasidic community — others are carrying signs reading, ‘no to favoritism.’
One member of the sect is quoted as saying, if he survived the Holocaust, he’ll survive a group of angry Plateau residents.
Just like their French cousins across the pond these French Canadians are the most vicious antisemites..

It’s not only the French-Canadians, [who can’t stand the establishment, or expansion of any Jewish institution] It’s [some] Italian-Americans, in Brooklyn and other groups in New Jersey and other places. Could we [ever] imagine a Jewish group protesting the building or expansion of a Church?!!!

ROB!! is the reason why they are still davaning in the same shul becouse they don’t like machlokes? or there isn’t enough people in shul with whom to fight.? or its becouse the Machloke is on its way on the Northway 87 and stuck in traffic but it will reach there soon?
Being a Montrealer, I have seen numerous times the knee-jerk reaction towards the Jewish community. This lastest protest, and others before it are usually the brain child of a perpetual whiner, Pierre Lacerte, who, it seems, has made it his mission in life to decry any move by the community. It would be high time that the community rises, once and for all, and shouts, Enough!
Oh, btw, i’m of Italian origin and Catholic (on paper) but will always denounce hypocrisy and intolerance.
