Religious leaders said attendance was up at lunchtime meetings in New York’s financial district last week, with many more people in business attire than usual.

The Wall Street Synagogue is opening its doors nightly starting this week to accommodate Wall Street people. But rather than a rush of people last week, Rabbi Meyer Hager said he has noticed a change in his regular worshippers.

“I can see it on the faces of certain people who come here who are regular people — some work for AIG and other large banking houses — I can see the expression of strained concern,” he said.

He noted that the synagogue was founded in 1929, the year of the Wall Street crash.

When people cease to be blinded by the golden idol of Capitalism, people naturally return to HaShem.

The correlation to Country’s moral values and financial success has been well documented throughout history. When the styles on the fashion runways include long sleeve/length items, the stock market rises, and the opposite – when short is pushed on the runway the market tanks. The more we push for the public displays of homosexuality and their acceptance, our economy will suffer. G-D has shown that even a country like America can come crumbling down in an instant. Also, we have seen more and more anti-jewish attempts in the press and the courts. When a country protects its jews, the country succeeds financially. It has been that way for thousands of years. When the Chinese wabted to boost their economy after WWII, top Chinese researchers encouraged the gov’t to attract jews to China. This was also one of the reasons China was so accomodating to the Mir Yeshiva in Shanghai.

Authentic Satmar 8:08PM. I’m glad you put it in the right perspective. Some people (in the secular world) put it in reverse order [of Cause and Effect]

    AuthenticSatmar,

It was not the Chinese who accommodated the Mir. Shanghai was under Japanese occupation — during, not after, World War II (which in Asia had started in 1937). While the Mir and other Jews were being accommodated, the Japanese were indiscriminately killing millions of Chinese.

How does a suit become religious? We thought people become more religious. A suit needs a kosher symbol on it now? Please clarify.

An old saying comes to mind: “There are no atheists in a foxhole.”
