Florida - Young Jews Urged to Ask Grandparents to Vote for Obama |
Sponsored By:
|
Florida - The Great Schlep is an online campaign urging young U.S. Jews to urge their grandparents in Florida to vote for the Democratic presidential ticket of Barack Obama and Joe Biden in the Nov. 4 election against Republican John McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin.
To do so they have enlisted the aid of comedian Sarah Silverman to plea Jews to fly to Florida to visit grandma and grandpa and sell the idea of Obama in the White House to them.
Florida is seen as one of about 10 closely contested states where the most exciting White House race in a long time will be ultimately decided. The state has a sizable Jewish population — about five percent of the state’s population by some estimates — and also has a large elderly retiree population.

Before this post, I saw the 5 minute video of Silverman promoting Obama. It reallly is ugly and devoid of any intelligent thought at promoting Obama. I wish that all Mcain supporters would have the same or more passion as the Obama suppoters. Or at least recognize what kind of a war the democrats are waging. All she is trying to do is be provocative and win over the uninformed and ignorant populace. Please counter and tell your grandparents, relatives, friends etc. how much better it will be for jews/Israel and the country if Mcain is elected. Remember, Florida is a swing state. Explain to whomever that this is the first time in American history that not just a liberal is running but also a leftist. (even Clinton was considered a moderate) He is against all the values we jews hold sacred.

The GOP have run the country into the ground. The wasted 12 billion a month on getting in the middle of a unwinnable civil war while the U.S. Infrastucture and finance industry collapses. What people in their right mind would reward this party 4 more years. Obama represents change which this country needs.
I am not going to v ote for hime because of Israel but I am stunned when people fail to understand his popularity.
And please enough of the barak HUSSIEN obama stuff. You all sound like billy cuningham !! Its stupid shtick.

If you listened to the debate, you heard Senator McCain talk about the need to protect the only true ally we have in the region... Israel...
Senator Obama really doesn't care about Israel at all.. he just says enough to appease some Liberal Jews who are happy to hear him say anything.

I've never been a real conservative, but my politics have moved to the left somewhat as I have become more observant and my learning has increased. The mitzvot that our rabbis decreed should be taught to all prospective converts are leket, shich'chah, peah, and maaser oni, not Shabat and kashrut. Your right to private property is not inherent in the Torah; it exists because the Torah forbids me from taking it from you -- but it permits a beit din to declare your property or my property ownerless! And the Torah prohibits a free market for land in Eretz Yisrael, prohibits charging interest on loans to other Jews, and requires remission of some debts at the end of the shemittah cycle. These are not consistent with laissez-faire capitalism!

How can you vote for someone who is affiliated with so many questionable people?
a church filled with hate? a muslim backround! and the list goes on........
He doesn't say that their way of life is wrong, merely he is no longer affiliated!
What is it going to take to wake you people up? What I know is that McCain is surely an American who has a true love for this country and is not shored up with a bunch of people who hate America!
The "right" to vote is great, but vote for what is good for your country not for your own pocket!
Voting for Obama shows the world just how smart we Americans are!

ru serious, you seem to be forgetting that the libs have been in control of congress for a few years. what have they dont good for the coutry duing that time? NOTHING! It takes congress to draft bills and if they are what the president wants, he/she will sign it. When things were going better in the late slick willy years it was because the conservatives controlled congress which meant the good bills were coming out clinton had no choice but to sign them. Blame your own party.

If the President was a fiscal conservative you might have a point but he isnt fiscally conservative and if there was ONE complaint that the Conservative Party had with the President it was that he would sometimes spend money. I would add to that commnent that I really wish the President would fight back more against the liberals instead of trying to appease them.
I would also like to remind you that your donkey party has been in charge in the congress and they have done Jack Shaving Cream while being in charge.
What is wrong with Iraq? When John McCain was openly stating that we needed a surge and each and every dem was claiming we lost the war where were you? There was a surge and the USA was BH more matzliach in Iraq. Will it hold? Only HKBH knows for sure.
As for the bailout, it is on the record that back in 1998 PRESIDENT CLINTON was warned about this and he did nothing. In fact the conservatives have been talking about it for a while and the libs did nothing. If this bill is so good, as Rush said, why dont they vote for it already? They have the votes even without the Republicans! You are also oh so convieniently forgetting that the party that signed the mortgage bill originally was the dems. Since then they have been pressuring backs to give loans to people who cant afford it! This is typical of the liberal agenda. The problem was the Libs and now they want the conservatives to help get them out of their own pile of manure.

Your vote makes a difference even in New York. McCain may well win New York just as Reagan did. Several weeks ago they found only a 5 point difference in New York between McCain and Obamo. There are many people who are afraid to tell polsters who they are voting for due to fear especially if the candidate is black. I met many secular Jews who told me that they never voted Republican but this time they will. The future of Israel and our communities is at stake. There has never been a more important election for Jews as this one.

McCain is not really claiming to be conservative on a number of issues but as is the case with politics, you cant have everything all the time.
As for why you should go out and vote, the polls are indicating that McCain is doing better in the lib states than thought. Granted polls now dont make a diff and like we saw in 00 & 04 they dont make much of a diff as exit polls either. the parties look at each district to see how the votes went. They are now able to get fairly precise when it comes to finding out who people voted.
REMEMBER, if you are voting for McCain its on 11/4.
If you are voting for Obama, you vote on 11/5.

1. Your own left wing God, none other than TED KENNEDY, called "the magic nergo" the name "OSAMA OBAMA" so get over it.
2. Obama can talk about "Caring" but that means nothing. He has said NOTHING and has done NOTHING in his entire political career. Being a street thug in Chicago does NOT make one worthy of becoming president. If he cared so much about the "poor and middle class" why is he willing to drop the dollar amount to be considered "rich" into the 70k range?? I'll tell ya bec you havent gotten it yet. They will be rich and he can %^^&^& them for more taxes. 70k makes far too many people rich according to his plan and way more people poor. The typical family will get taxed up the yeah on his plan. If the "rich" pay more taxes they WONT be paying bonuses, they WONT be hiring more workers. and they WONT be giving raises.
It amazes me how the libs dont get that their "plans" DONT work... EVER! Over the last 40 years the country has thrived when people with conservative ideas are the mouths.

The saying is wrong. Socialists have no heart or brain; they're just motivated by envy and hatred of those who are better off than them. If you have a heart, reach into your own pocket, not into someone else's.

The most powerful reason to vote against Obama is that he is a friend of terrorists Ayers and Dohrn. That doesn't mean he approves of what they did, but he clearly doesn't think it so bad that he can't be their friend. If McCain had a friend who was an unrepentant rapist or a Klansman, we wouldn't hear the end of it, but somehow it's OK for Obama to be friends with terrorists.

And what laws did the republican president with 6 years of a republican congress pass to end abortion? The fact of the matter is you cannot make people live moral lives.
