Manhattan, NY - New York City Assemblyman Dov Hikind ((D-Brooklyn) was arrested along with eight other members of the Jewish community outside the Manhattan office of New York Senator Chuck Schumer’s office.

Hikind and his fellow protesters were handcuffed and charged with civil disobedience after they laid down on the pavement in an effort to get the attention of the pivotal Schumer.

With chants of “Chuck the deal” and “Schumer be a shomer,” protestors echoed the sentiment that was on display Wednesday when over 10,000 demonstrators rallied in Times Square.

“We have been called upon to act and now is not the time to remain silent,” a defiant Hikind said.

If this was a Black issue, Sharpton would be there with a hundred guys yelling and screaming and willing to be arrested. And here its only 8 people?? why weren't there 500 people willing to be arrested??
that's the failing.
Obama, Di Blasio, Schumer- worthless leftists, appeasers. WW2 all over again with Chamberlain appeasing the Yemach Shmon.
Dov is our only Jewish Sharpton. I just wish he had a few hundred more willing to take the arrest. Maybe he needs to pay the Kollel guys like Al pays the welfare drunks.

It is a shanda that someone who posts as a frum Yid is supporting a Haman in our time. Obama is one of the vilest resho'im of our generation, being an avid hater of Jews, of Israel, and of freedom. He has been an embarrassment for America, and a threat to every Jew, in and out of Israel. Schumer has proven to be a partisan mouthpiece, supporting Obama blindly and without intelligence to verify anything. In doing so, he is prepared to sell Israel down the river. He is a disgrace, and he is an embarrassment to the Jews of New York. I can't wait for the next chance to vote him out.

I might disagree with the public demonstration stuff, but Hikind is more Oheiv Yisroel than Obama, Schumer, and even you.

The reason why they didn't get arrested, is not because they were not supposed to be, but rather it was a practical decision by the NYPD that as long it's peaceful, arresting people would just create violence. (Rather be practical than smart).

Poor Hikind.

He couldn't gather more than 15 people for his protest, he reserved to attention seeking option.

Blocking street traffic isn't civil disobedience. Civil disobedience is a case where someone doesn't observe a law he disagrees, (For example, Rosa parks didn't agree that she had to go to the back of the bus).

Breaking one law, because you disagree with another law, is called "breaking the law". Although this has it's place too, with oppressive governments, it has nothing to do with "Civil disobedience".

Call this as it is

"Breaking the law, to attract attention".

If Donald doesn't win the presidency he can run for senator of NY because if Schumer keeps this up there will probably be an opening for a new senator... The iran deal is extremely disturbing to a lot of NY's and I don't care what he himself believes he currently works for the state of NY and for him not to stand with his fellow NY's at a time like this is showing he might have forgotten his job description and the power might have gotten to him...

Reb Dov Hikind, you have done well.

Yosher Koach to you who is a man who "walks the walk and not only talks".

To the posters who call this a cheap " publicity ploy - how else can one register opposition to the Iran Deal that presents a clear and present danger to so many Jewish lives and have it noticed in the media that forms "public media"

As a public official elected to office by thousands of votes Reb Dov is using his influence where it counts.

Public Official calls upon Public Official Schumer to do his duty.

It makes perfect sense!

According to Jewish law - you are not permitted to stand idly by when people are in mortal danger.

How many more sacrifices r'l need there be, before we call out on behalf of our brothers and sisters.

Tefillah - Tzedaka and Hishtodlus - actions are what is needed.

Thank Reb Dov.

Let it not be said that not one Jewi was willing to protest --to the point of arrest on behalf of fellow Jews.

A peace deal is not a treaty. A treaty would be like a mutual defense agreement etc. A deal not to engage in war or other hostile acts is not a treaty.

websters dictionary (1828 version)
Treaty
TRE'ATY, noun Negotiation; act of treating for the adjustment of differences, or for forming an agreement; as, a treaty is on the carpet.

He cast by treaty and by trains

Her to persuade.

1. An agreement, league or contract between two or more nations or sovereigns, formally signed by commissioners properly authorized, and solemnly ratified by the several sovereigns or the supreme power of each state. Treaties are of various kinds, as treaties for regulating commercial intercourse, treaties of alliance, offensive and defensive, treaties for hiring troops, treaties of peace, etc.

2. Intreaty. [Not in use.]

The Iran treaty clearly falls under An agreement between two or more nations or sovereigns.

In fact the most famous treaties in history are all deals not to engage in war or other hostile acts.

Please explain why the Treaty of Paris (1783) that founded this country is a treaty and the Iran Treaty is not?

Is it because Obama decided it was not, because it was more convenient?

You are correct that a treaty is a binding agreement between to sovereign states and that the nuclear pact with Iran is, in fact, a treaty, but the controlling document isn't Websters, it's the Constitution of the United States which states in Article II, Section 2, clause 2 that the President negotiates treaties but requires two thirds of the Senate to ratify them. The President does, indeed, conduct foreign policy and may choose to abide by the treaty he negotiated, but without confirmation of the U.S. Senate by two thirds vote, the treaty is not binding on any succeeding administration or, for that matter, on the current President himself.

Which is why I quoted the constitution in comment 28.

the reason I quoted the websters dic. was that the Satmar? person who attacked me, claimed that what Obama was doing with Iran would not be called a treaty and thus not be subject to the treaty clause.

The dictionary was only used to prove that treaty means treaty
