A Quinnipiac University poll conducted this week showed that a majority of city residents now favor a proposal to extend term limits from two to three terms. Bloomberg said this week he would seek to change the law and run for re-election next year.
The poll says 54 percent of voters support extending the term limits law to keep the mayor in City Hall. An early poll in July found a majority of voters opposed to the idea.
But 58 percent of voters opposed making the same change to give City Council members a third term.
The poll of 1,316 registered voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.

Very funny.
I would rather have the City Council then the Mayor. I think this poll is flawed. A councilmember gets into office and it takes 2 to 3 years to get to know the system then he is busy running a re-election and then he is out when does he help the people? If we give Councilmembers 3 terms they are going to help big time cause if not they are out after the 2nd for sure.

I think Bloomberg should stay, as there are no better options as of now. He is a business man & runs the city like its his business & that's very good for the city. and think of 13th ave. w/o traffic cops, it would of looked like the streets of Eygpt...law-less. So the way the city & the econamy is now WE NEED MIKE "4 MORE YEARS"!!

this is Bloombergs own poll Because he wants to run for a third term.
ask anybody in your neighborhood if he wants Bloomberg or how they feel about raising:
1) tickets,
2) taxes,
3) water bills,
4) a fee for coming into Manhattan,
5) bike lanes
And More...........
We thought we gonna get rid of him finally and now he is going to buy this election again with all his money. And convince for a few dollars some city council members to vote for it like Simch Felder with the Manhattan fee.
He is the #8 richest man in the USA of course he doesn't care about you or me. Hes driver doesn't even tell him when he gets a ticket. He has his garage and never gets one probably.anyways.

I like Mike.
The next Mayor will also raise taxes and do whatever else he can to raise revenue to make up for the shortfall from the economic sector. I'd prefer to cut services than raise revenues, but the hit is coming regardless of who is in office.
Also, there are always comments on here about tickets, tickets, and more tickets. Last time I checked, if you park legally, you don't get tickets.

mayor bloomberg probably is the best choice for the next four years.he probably can run the intracacies of city gov't better than any body else. as far as taxes go, no matter who comes in will face the same problem, with the same solution.
if the intent of the two term law was not to allow for this kind of setup then dont allow him to run and dont change the law; its a charade.

...and the last I checked, you often don't HAVE the option of parking legally.

Raising Taxes? That's what u need Bloomberg for?
Anybody could do that! You and me too can be mayor like that.
That's not what u need Bloomberg for.
Look back at Giuliani when he came to office NYC was a mess physically AND Financially. He changed NYC without raising taxes or water or anything else.
That's what I call a smart man.
Bloomberg has no feelings at all to the people of NYC

Last time I checked (before I came home) that you could if you want park in a legal spot.
Don't forget a pump, crosswalk, sidewalk, bus stop is not a legal parking spot.

But if you park legally, who cares how much the fine for a ticket is, you won't get one.

I said in a previous post
" People seem to forget what a mess nyc had been under other admin's.
Crime was high and the city was filthy. Sure I pay more but the quality of life is better.
No mayor is going to come along and say I am lowering all the taxes and I am getting rid of parking tickets so everyone in boro park please feel free to double park! Is that what people want or think might actually happen ?
For the record I am happy that people get tickets for double parking. Besides being against the law it is bad midos and the essence of self centeredness, a mida ra that we all need to change.
