He made the comments in New Hampshire Tuesday where he’s campaigning for the Republican nomination for president.

Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx wrote to Christie and Cuomo Monday after trains were delayed into Manhattan on five out of six weekdays.

Amtrak owns the tracks and equipment, but New Jersey Transit commuters endure the brunt of delays because they use the same tracks.

Christie canceled a tunnel project in 2010 over concerns that New Jersey would be responsible for cost overruns. He said last week if he’s elected president he’ll get a new tunnel built if both states and the federal government are equal partners.

Canceling that tunnel was, in the long run, the most hurtful thing he has done to New Jersey. Even letting that pollution settlement go through was less dumb.

Sorry #4 is right. The Port Authority and the Federal government had already arranged funding for the project. Christie cancelled it and raided its cookie jar.

Our grandfather built huge bridges, roads and ports. They built civic monuments to the public good. Now we can’t even keep them in repair. We have become a shadow of those great men.
